ABN AMRO Bankieren app now available for Windows Phone

ABN Bankieren

The Dutch state-owned bank ABN AMRO has released an official mobile banking solution for Windows Phone. Much like other offerings currently available on the Marketplace, the Bankieren app enables customers of ABN AMRO to access their accounts and perform tasks they'd normally do in-branch or in front of a PC.

Before we crack into what's included in the app, and why you should definitely check it out should you be a customer of the bank, we have to highlight just how good looking the app itself is. The developers have done a superb job keeping to Metro guidelines and have really produced some excellent work here. We'd like to see how this would look as an app in Windows 8. Anyway, on with the show.

You can't just use an app because it looks good, we need functionality for the user and the Bankieren app from ABN AMRO doesn't fall short here. As mentioned above, customers can download this app to view accounts while on the go, while being able to perform simple transfers between owned and third-party accounts. It doesn't stop there as you can even personalise accounts with names and photos for that extra touch.

The Bankieren app also allows users to access their Internet Banking address book for convenient access to all previous contacts and payees. As is the case with any banking service, the app features levels of security, which includes an identification code of the user's choice. Once everything is configured and good to go, transactions within individual accounts can be checked and income is clearly labelled with green formatting.

All-in-all a nice package. If you wish to be able to use the app with your account, a one-off registration is required before being able to select available bank accounts. Be sure to let us know in the comments your experience using the app as we'd like to know how it fares through real use.

You can download ABN AMRO's Bankieren app from the Marketplace. Thanks, Matthijs, for the heads up!

A little off topic but since Chase looks to be a Wallet supporter in WP8, will we see a WP7.8 version?

Otherwise things apps make it easier and easier to switch phones.

Yaay! Finally the Dutch corporations are warming up to Windows Phone! I like! Now if only the ING Bank in the Netherlands would bring out a WP app soon, I'm very very happy! But I think it's just a matter of time...

arielext says:

ING is still the missing link here :(

Thamuz says:

Hopefully, if ING releases an app it will work for the Belgian branch as well.

Funny. @home we have issues connecting with a Samsung wp7 and the ABN APP service to online banking. So after a quick call to ABN customer support and explaining the problem, they answer..... I'm sorry but we at CS don't know the app. Can you reg the call..... No we do not have the wp7 brand in there call logging service. Small mistake. On my lum900 it works perfect.
