App Update Roundup: 6snap, Hardware Tests and Tile Me! updated this weekend

App Update Roundup

Some of us will be following the SuperBowl this weekend, but there are still app updates being published to the Windows Phone Store. Today, we'll be looking at what's new in 6snap, Hardware Tests and Tile Me! Should you be looking out for new versions for installed apps, head past the break for the change logs.

6snap Snapchat

6snap 2.6

There's currently no official Snapchat app for Windows Phone, but that doesn't mean there is no way to access and enjoy the photo sharing service. 6snap is the best Snapchat client for Windows Phone and arguably the best Snapchat app on any platform, developed by resident dev Rudy Huyn.

Today it picked up yet another update, version 2.6 that introduces the ability to create groups of friends and contacts. Move all your favourite contacts into a group titled 'close friends', separating them from family or even work colleagues.

It's a sweet little update, further building on what we received in version 2.5. You can grab 6snap from the Windows Phone Store for free.

Hardware Tests

Hardware Tests

You can run tests and checks on your Windows Phone components with Hardware Tests. This useful app opens up numerous tools, options and tests to help you get an idea as to how your smartphone performs and more. Version adds updated battery status on Live Tiles. Not the biggest update in the world, but worth noting should you be actively using this app. If you haven't checked out Hardware Tests yet, we strongly urge you to do so.

Download Hardware Tests from the Windows Phone Store for free.

Tile Me!

Tile Me! 2.8

Tile Me! is a sweet little app enabling you to create some cool Me tiles that can be used on social media websites. While version included more phone support and improved functionality with Twitter backgrounds, today's release brings a Facebook cover photo creator tool and more. Check it out.

Here's everything that's included in version 2.8:

  • Added Facebook cover photo creator
  • Added static Wide Tile creator
  • Increased the quality of the screenshots for the Twitter background creator
  • Minor bug fixes

Tile Me! can be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store for $0.99. Optionally, you can grab the free trial.

How is it that American football seems to somehow make its way into every post?

American egotism, FTW!

ttarbuck says:

Not against America or anything (I'm half American). Just saying its odd how the super bowel gets into things that are completely unrelated.

ladydias says:

But unless I'm mistaken, Rich isn't American. :-/. Maybe he just thought it was a nice opening for the article since this site is frequented by a lot of Americans who might not think to check for updates on Superbowl Sunday.

GizmoEV says:

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Microsoft is a US company and some might think that app updates might not be released on Superbowl Sunday.
