We're at AppCampus; the joint venture for Windows Phone developers

AppCampus Office

We're currently at Aalto University in Finland, where the AppCampus program — a joint project of Microsoft, Nokia and the university — is held for Windows Phone developers around the world to engage in. What exactly is the program all about? We covered AppCampus back in 2012 when the project kicked off. Since then, numerous apps and games have been released on the Windows Phone store, with over $1 million going to participating teams.

As well as access to materials and details surrounding the project, we'll be joining local media outlets today with a presentation about the program. Talking to a handful of the teams here in Finland, Windows Phone Central has been able to grasp a firm understanding about what AppCampus (and the project as a whole) has to offer developers and entrepreneurs.

We'll have a full briefing up on our site in the coming days, so be sure to remain tuned to our feeds.

Does this mean that we are going to see a shit ton of apps getting released in the coming weeks or is this some kind of demostration event only ?

In short, should I be excited ?

Rich Edmonds says:

The project has batches throughout each year. This current batch have begun releasing apps etc. so yes, be excited. There's some seriously cool stuff going on here, and we'll have more details to follow :-)

We don't work in batches. It's more like a stream. Some times the stream is stronger and sometimes weaker.

Currently we got very nice stream of applications graduating from AppCampus and going public in Winows Phone Store.
