Nokia updated two of their systems apps today for Windows Phone 8, including Access Point (for setting your SIM card and carrier settings) and Nokia Feedback (which allows you to answer occasional poll questions directly to Nokia about your phone).

Jaxbot over at Windows Phone Hacker as released a new app onto the Windows Phone 8 Store and it’s worth the $0.99 for it. The app is called LockWidgets 8 and allows users to add up to three information areas to their lockscreens, including current temperature, tomorrow’s  temp and battery life. Some detailed information is also included like estimated time left on the charge and if it is clear or rainy out.

Users can select the background image from Bing, NASA or their own images and include “weather effects”, which can add rain droplets and presumably other graphical changes to the background image.

PayPal first jumped on the Windows Phone wagon back in September. It had a bit of a rough start, first disappearing from the Store for Windows Phone 8 users and showing up again a few days later. Followed by some updates without any changelogs. And today we get another update for the PayPal app. Let’s see if they include on this time.

For those in near some major US (and even UK) cities, you may take interest in seeing the official Uber app (www.uber.com) land today for Windows Phone, both 7.x and 8. In case you don’t know, Uber is a livery service that is gaining popularity for embracing mobile technology—specifically you pull your location on your phone, access your account and ping a driver to pick you up. It’s fast, convenient and a great use of your phone.

Previously, we have had some decent unofficial apps in the Store, like Uber Towncar. Now, the fancy taxi company has embraced Windows Phone with a version 1.0 of their app, which of course is free and ad-free. That’s the good news (and it’s always good news when we get official support). The bad news is the app is a tad rough, even for a version 1.0.

We've been in touch with the developer of Feed Me, the popular RSS reader that sports integration with NewsBlur. Unfortunately, we're told the service has altered API requirements, rendering Feed Me broken and unable to synchronise. While the app is still available on the Windows Phone store, users may experience issues when attempting to use it.

Dual Cam Photo is an interesting camera app for our Windows Phone 8 devices. The app lets you toggle between front and rear cameras at the swipe of a finger and once you take a photo with one camera, a few seconds later the other camera snaps a pic.

Dual Cam Photo will then crop and combine the two images in side-by-side fashion. It's not an every day type camera app but it may come in handy for those situations where you want to interject a self portrait into the mix.

HD Photo Viewer is a Windows Phone 8 app designed to give your images a sharper look. Some Windows Phone 8 devices reduce the display quality to improve viewer performance. HD Photo Viewer presents images at full resolution and many see a quality improvement.

HD Photo Viewer was recently updated to version 2.3 but a bug was discovered that prompted a second update a few days later that takes the app to version 2.3.2.

All totaled the two updates adds a handful of performance improvements along with 720p support for Windows Phones such as the HTC 8X. The developer has shared that many of the suggested features such as deleting photos are not possible because of API restrictions and couldn't be included in these updates.

While the Nokia Lumia 920 has optical stabilization to minimize the impact of camera movements, other Windows Phones lack such features. SteadyCam is a Windows Phone 8 app that hopes to help make up for things by only taking a photo when there is no movement detected from your Windows Phone.

The interface is really no-nonsense in that all you have is the viewfinder. You take your photo as you would otherwise by using the hardware camera button (sorry, no screen touch shutter support). If the app senses any movement in your Windows Phone a message window will pop up telling you hold things still.

Fly Delta updated, fails to address known bugs

The Fly Delta app for Windows Phone has been updated, but there still seems to be issues with logging in for many consumers. These problems were raised by users prior to this release being published, so one would expect the update to contain the necessary improvements, correct? The latest release includes "Bug fixes & performance enhancements" and no, we're not trolling you.

Pandora music has always been one of those apps that served as a metric for mobile platforms: so long as Windows Phone did not have it, it was behind. Luckily, last October Microsoft finally announced that indeed Pandora was coming to Windows Phone 8 in “early 2013” and a few weeks ago we had hints it was near.

Well, that day is today.

Yes, the official Pandora app for Windows Phone 8 can be downloaded from the Store and is now available in the US, Australia and New Zealand. What’s more, Microsoft carried through on their promise of an ad-free experience throughout the year. Indeed users won’t have to pay a dime to experience the premium Pandora experience on their Windows Phone.
