Earlier this week we reported that N.O.V.A. 3 would come to Xbox Windows Phone 8 on Wednesday, but that information sadly turned out to be incorrect. Check out our Monster Burner story for more details, and let’s not shoot the messenger!

So what are gamers who’ve been left waiting for a rigorous and downright manly 3D sci-fi shooter supposed to play this week? Well, besides the obvious answer of Monster Burner, your next best is the Xbox Red Stripe Deal of the Week. The new sale game is Sally’s Salon Luxury Edition from Game House! It is now on sale for 99 cents, down from $2.99. Definitely an excellent substitute for shooting aliens full of holes.

In all seriousness, if you need a more hardcore gaming experience on the cheap, you’re in luck! Spectral Souls, the console-style strategy RPG is discounted for the first time ever with a whopping seven bucks slashed off its price. The Encyclopedia Britannica app rounds out the Red Stripe Deals of the week.

We've all been there. Glancing at the Windows Phone lock screen to find that the battery saver has kicked in with a good few hours to go until a charger can be utilised. This is where portable chargers can be rather handy. Nokia is set to release a stylish charger, called the DC-18, which looks very much like a Live Tile.

Nokia's new product announcement in London is less than a week away, and as usual, the product to be revealed just got leaked in advance. Citing unnamed insider source, Chinese tech site WPDang claims that Nokia's London event is about just one device: the previously leaked "Catwalk" aka Lumia 925 930.

Catwalk reportedly sports a shell design with a mix of polycarbonate and aluminum, as depicted in the leaked picture up above.

Some time ago Ascendo released four language dictionaries for Windows Phone 8. The dictionaries cover Spanish, German, Italian and French. The developers have been hard at work improving things and recently released an update that boosts the translation tools these apps possess.

Most notably, the version 3.5.1.28 update adds an audio pronunciation of the translated word. Which can be very useful for those who struggle outside their native tongue.

The Nokia Lumia 928 is arguably the worst kept secret in the world of Windows Phone handsets. We’ve known about it for quite some time and have pieces of its existence surface frequently. Nokia even put the device itself up on their website last night. Without an official announcement to boot. Here’s a new video and image of the device.

Update: The videos are now private. If any of you managed to download them before or have mirrors...let us know. Update 2: Added a 'mirror' link next to the heading for each of the videos. We'll keep you posted.

Microsoft has been on a roll lately with their video ads for their products. Last week we got that hilarious wedding video for Windows Phone. Last night we saw three videos showing the power of Bing over Google. Here are three more videos for Windows 8.

We’ll just do this as a PSA post as there probably no new features on board, but just 24 hours after being released to the Store, the official (and new) YouTube app got an update.

Version 3.0.0.1 is now live on the marketplace, and if a 0.0.0.1 update sounds minor, we’ll, you’d probably be right. Most likely this is a quick bug fix for something that could affect a lot of users, so it’s good to see such a high profile app get its due.

AT&T is pushing out a Windows Phone update for the Nokia Lumia 900. We saw the Lumia 900 make the jump to Windows Phone 7.8 back in January and the latest update takes the OS version from 8858 to 8862 (2175.2307.8862.13100 to be exact).

According to NokiaCare, the update adds theme colors, lock screen improvements, fixes Live Tile issues and makes updated Nokia apps available.  This is likely similar to the update Microsoft pushed out back in March to fix the issues we experienced with the original 7.8 update.

Since last week we’ve been undergoing a small communications hitch with Microsoft’s gaming division that will hopefully be cleared up soon. Earlier this week though, French site MonWindowsPhone passed along the news that N.O.V.A. 3 would be today’s Xbox release, so we reported it as such. Of course we asked Gameloft to verify the release date, but they could only say for certain that it will come out in May – not specifically today.

A short while ago, a different Xbox Windows Phone game popped up in the Store: Monster Burner from Ubisoft! That’s not a bad thing, because it’s FREE, seems like a fantastic game, and runs on both Windows Phone 7 and 8. But given that Gameloft couldn’t say for sure whether N.O.V.A. 3 will come out today, we are left slightly unsure about its release status. Will we get one Xbox game this week or two?

That question aside, most of you guys will dig Monster Burner in a big way. Read on for our first impressions.

Oh, Canada! If you've been looking for a way to hop onto the Windows Phone bandwagon for cheap, then look no further than your local Rogers, Koodo, or Telus store. Nokia has announced that these three Canadian carriers have just picked up the Nokia Lumia 520.

The ever-affordable Lumia 520 is available starting today on Rogers for free with a three year contract or $199.99 outright. If Koodo is more your flavor, the 520 official launches there on May 9th for $150 without a contract or free on contract (though in reality you can already order one). And if your carrier of choice is Telus, you'll be able to pick up the 520 for $149 with a pre-paid plan.

As well as Ringtone Maker, Nokia has also pushed out an update for its beta instant messaging solution. We previously looked at Nokia Chat when it was released for Windows Phone 8 last month, but the app was limited to a select number of markets. The company has now increased that pool to cover more regions.

Nokia has a number of events lined up for the month of May, including a global announcement tomorrow in New Delhi, India. The company has published a new post on its official blog to detail webcast times for those unable to attend. What are we expecting to see from the company? We'll put some money down on new Asha products to follow the recently announced Asha 210 or even a low-end Lumia Windows Phone.

It looks like Nokia has given up on trying to keep their new Lumia 928, destined for Verizon, hidden any longer as they have tweeted about a new YouTube video showing off its low light capability.

Filmed in Farmingdale, New York at Adventureland (a place that is just 2 miles from where a certain Editor lives, ahem), Nokia took the phone on a literal rollercoaster ride at night to brag about their PureView camera with optical image stabilization.

Needless to say, it’s impressive.

Microsoft hasn’t been shying away from the competition lately. Last week they finally hit a home run with an ad for Windows Phone. So here’s one highlighting the strengths of Bing over Google. It also happens to showcase a killer, but underused feature of Windows Phone. Videos below.

The following videos aren’t HD. Sorry, we got them from a reader before they were hidden from the Bing YouTube account. They were prematurely posted there, but not before our man grabbed them for us. Check them out.
