5.8 million Lumia smartphones sold this last quarter

Microsoft has just shared their latest quarterly financial report. This is for the previous three months that ended on June 30, 2014. Microsoft reported revenue of $23.38 billion with a net income of $4.61 billion. In the report, you'll find a ton of information about the various divisions within Microsoft. One interesting statistic: 5.8 million Lumia smartphones were sold during that period.

Microsoft has released the first image from Halo: Nightfall, showing off actor Mike Colter as Agent Locke, the lead character in the upcoming live action digital feature that will be released later this fall. Locke will also appear in Halo 5: Guardians, the next all new game in Microsoft's long running sci-fi shooter franchise for the Xbox One game console.

Earlier this morning we took a look at a YouTube video showing off what an app could achieve when tapping into Windows Phone 8.1 to offer more advanced lockscreens. This app, called Animated LockScreen Preview, is what the YouTube video was demonstrating and it's available right now for you to download. It's not a fully functional app (since the APIs haven't been released yet), but is a solid demo of what's to come.

Eagerly awaiting the launch of the Lumia 930 in India? We have some bad news for you, as it looks like Microsoft is delaying the launch of the device in the country. The Lumia 930 has been delisted from Nokia's Indian website, and at this stage there is no information as to when the device will be available in the country.

On Friday, Windows Phone Central broke the news about 'McLaren' being cancelled by Microsoft. Not much was known about the flagship Windows Phone except it was to feature the first instance of Microsoft's new 3D Touch UI. Although prototype phones likely get cancelled on occasion, the absence of McLaren causes a potential problem: what is going to the next Windows Phone flagship for the fall?

Yahoo has been on a mission to strengthen their mobile products for a while now and to push that envelope even further, the company has now announced they'll be acquiring mobile analytics firm Flurry after having reached a definitive agreement. Flurry, was started in 2008 and today has reached over 170,000 developers across 1.4 billion devices monthly with their services being offered to pretty much every mobile operating system out there one way or another.
