Microsoft smartwatch may launch within weeks

A new report suggests that Microsoft is gearing up to launch a smartwatch or fitness-oriented wearable device in the coming weeks. The wearable will come with a heart rate sensor and is described to work across multiple platforms, meaning that it won't be tied to Windows or Windows Phone if true. The good news is that unlike other smartwatches today, the Microsoft-made smartwatch is described to get two days of battery life.

Every weekend, WPCentral streams an Xbox One game on Twitch for one hour and gives out free games to the cool people who join us during the stream. Last week, we streamed 3D puzzle platformer Contrast and dished out codes to eight lucky viewers.

This evening, we'll be playing the hilarious 2D platformer Stick it to the Man from Zoink! and Ripstone. We want you guys there, chatting along. So we're giving out five Xbox One codes for Stick it to the Man, plus several Playstation 4 and Steam codes! Even our unfortunate non-Xbox One owning brethren are welcome. Just follow me on Twitch.tv/Eastxtwitch, watch along, and participate in chat for your chance to win. (You can also watch the event live or after the fact, right here.)

Update: The contest has ended but you can still watch the replay of our stream!

Sunset Overdrive, the exclusive open world action game for the Xbox One, is due for release October 28 but as you might imagine some media outlets got copies of the game ahead of time so they could review it before it shows up on store shelves. As it turns out, developer Insomniac Games has put a special message in the game just for those pre-release reviewers.

Windows Phone Collection: Fun Runners

Windows Phone Central Gaming Roundup: Endless Runners

Endless runner games can be a rather addictive choice of Windows Phone games and can help you pass short bits of time or longer gaming sessions. There is no shortage of this genre of games in the Windows Phone Store and this week we turn our sights on the Windows Phone Store Collection that showcases a little over two dozen of the endless runner games.

The Fun Runner's collection has several well known gaming titles such as Despicable Me: Minions Rush, Subway Surfers and the Temple Run titles. For this week's roundup, we are going to highlight four titles in the Collection that you may not have heard about.

We have two games that are played from the "over the shoulder" perspective, one that is laid out in platformer style and one that is played from a first person point of view. While each game approaches things a little differently, they all have the same underlying goal, run as far as you can.

Although many in the United States are still waiting for the Lumia Cyan update, most of the focus in the Windows Phone world is shifting to Lumia Denim. Currently, Lumia Denim comes installed on the Lumia 730, Lumia 735, and Lumia 830, with the Lumia 1520 and Lumia 930 slated to get an over-the-air update first, likely starting in the coming weeks.

This morning, a few fan sites began running articles about 'Lumia Emerald' alleging that it is the next firmware update following Denim. For now, I am calling these sightings a hoax for various reasons.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will require a hefty day-one update for anyone purchasing the game on disc. The collection will take up most of the space on its Blu-ray disc, which amounts to around 45GB. However, this includes only the campagin modes of each game, with the multiplayer and some other features requiring a 20GB install, according to a Microsoft statement to Kotaku:
