Microsoft took the opportunity at the JP Morgan Technology, Media & Telecom conference today to talk about Windows 8.1 (or "Windows Blue" as it has been referred as). The update will be dished out to consumers for free, which is music to ears after the heavy discount Microsoft had in place for Windows 8 when the operating system launched last year.

Gartner has published an interesting report, which details numerous points. The first is Nokia falling to position 10 in the first quarter of 2013. This is out of all mobile phone manufacturers (Samsung remains first). While Windows Phone is increasing its share and sales, Nokia has still yet to experience a surge that will replace the sheer volume of units the company used to ship.

Nokia has hit the ground running releasing a new ad for their latest Windows Phone, the Lumia 925, that was officially introduced to the world this morning in London.

The forty second spot offers an inside look at the Lumia 925, highlighting the 8MP Pureview camera and aluminum body. The spot is rather generic but is just enough to catch your attention.

We previously looked at Nokia's new wireless charging stand for vehicles back at Mobile World Congress. The company is back showing off the accessory today but is also using the Lumia 925 to demonstrate a dock app that is activated through NFC. We took a few minutes to run through what this app does and how the overall package will help consumers while driving.

It was announced today that Nokia will be bringing “Amber”, a software update package that will coincide with Microsoft’s GDR2 update later this summer. We got a quick look at some of the new camera functions, which will launch on the Lumia 925 and then come to all Windows Phone 8 Lumias via an over-the-air update.

So what can we expect? FM Radio, up to 3200 ISO support, less noise, enhanced color profile, image quality improvements and more. One of those new features is of course the Smart Camera app that you see demoed here in our video. Indeed, we’re quite excited for this feature to come.

Nokia has updated their filter list on #2InstaWithLove app with the "Pureview" filter.  Likely in honor of all the news coming out of London.

The app, exclusive to the Lumia Windows Phone lineup, allows you to take photos, apply one of a handful of creative filters and then automatically adds the hashtag #2InstaWithLove to the photo, for sharing on your favorite social network.

Okay folks, it's time for another quicky reader poll! Today's topic: the Lumia 925.

We can already tell this one is causing some divisions, with those thinking its not a worthy Lumia 920 upgrade (even though it's not positioned as such) and those who finally have a reason to get a flagship Nokia (or even the opportunity, hello T-Mobile!).

Which camp do you fall into: hit or miss? Take the poll and let your voice be heard.

Do you like the new Nokia Lumia 925?

We’re still here in London, playing around with the recently announced Nokia Lumia 925. We’re talking to Nokia about the device and learning all sorts of bits of information, which we’ll share later today. For now, you can feast your eyes on our hands on video and some high quality shots.

For those of you who dismissing this as just another 920, we’d suggest you reconsider. The phone feels like a Lumia 720 (which we love) but it has the 920 guts inside, making it a very compelling device for those who want a thinner, lighter phone. It’s not an iteration of the 920, but “another expression” of it.

We told you earlier that we’d do an unboxing and give you our first impressions of Verizon’s new flagship Lumia, the 928. The device is due any day now on the carrier for $99 on contract and while it’s not the sexiest Lumia we’ve handled, as Han Solo once quipped: she has it where it counts, kid.

The Lumia 928 features a stunning 4.5” AMOLED display, the same highend PureView camera as the Lumia 920 but with a bonus Xenon flash, a high quality rear speaker with digital amplifier and a unique design that only Verizon users will get to experience. It’s a Lumia 920 but refined: thinner and easier to handle.

Facebook Beta for Windows Phone updated

The slick new Facebook Beta app for Windows Phone, which was released at the end of April, and saw some bug fixes and minor improvements a few days later, has just received its second update. Version 5.0.1.2 doesn't seem to come with a change log at all, so it's not quite clear what exactly is new.

Skype seems to get mixed responses from a lot of you. Microsoft bought the communication giant back in 2011. Since then Windows Phone users have dreamed of a seamless Skype experience on their devices. That hasn’t exactly happened, but it’s still nice to see the app get updates, like it did today.

We first saw the official GoPro app for Windows Phone back at CES. That was early January and at the time we were told to expect it about a month later. A month came and went. Then we saw the app on display with Nokia during Mobile World Congress. Then we learned we would see it during spring. Since today still counts as spring, they stayed true to their word. The app is now available for download.
