NewsSpot is a popular news reader app available for both Windows Phone 8 and 7.x devices. It originally was developed as a means to synchronize your Windows Phone with your Google Reader account. However, since Google killed off that service the developer has turned to other news services to synchronize with.
The app has been updated to version 18.104.22.168 and adds three new sync services along with a few additional tweaks to improve performance. The update adds a good bit of gusto to what was already an impressive Windows Phone app.
It's common knowledge that Nokia has rebranded its popular music streaming service to MixRadio, but what's behind the new icon, called Ike? Design Studio worked with Nokia to produce the new logo, which is a "negative space headphone-shaped smiley face device." The goal was to create something youthful and fun, while sporting an authentic look.
Shopping market research firm InfoScout reports that Microsoft's Xbox One was the most popular video game console on this year's Black Friday, beating Sony's PlayStation 4 in the US. It uses the Bing Image of the Day as the lock screen background and adds widgets over it. There are only a couple of widgets right now. Weather and quotes are currently supported, but more should be coming.
CamScanner, an app that turns your Windows Phone 8 device into a scanner, has just added Japanese and Korean support in its latest update. Version 22.214.171.124 also includes bug fixes and stability improvements. CamScanner arrived to the Windows Phone platform last month, but their app has already been available on Android and iOS. According to the store listing, they have 60 million people using their service for document scanning worldwide.

Mega (www.mega.co.nz) is a cloud-based storage service and successor to MegaUpload. Launched earlier this year, the web service has released apps for Android and iOS, but the company has now confirmed that a Windows Phone solution is well on the way. The only problem is you won't be able to download it until 2014.
Nokia has once again announced winners from its Create contest. Should you not be familiar with the developer contest, said folk are tasked to create apps for Windows Phone, following certain missions and including desired features - these Mini Missions can be focused on certain features of the operating system or Nokia Lumia handset.

Windows Phone emulation fans might have noticed that three classic game system emulators have disappeared from the Store: SNES8x (a Super Nintendo emulator), VBA8 (a GameBoy Advance emulator), and VGBC8 (a Gameboy Color emulator). As of press time, the Windows 8 versions of the same apps are still available.
All three emulators came from a developer named M.k who publicly retired from mobile Windows development in August. Last week’s Windows Phone Central roundup dealt with bowling games for our Windows Phones. At the suggestion of one of our readers (thanks newVariable), this week we turn our focus on another indoor sporting activity – billiards.
Billiards or pool games can be a fun way to pass the time with. The challenge of the game will keep things interested and the genre is well suited for multi-player action. We pulled four billiard games from the Windows Phone Store for this week’s roundup based on their Store ratings. All three had merit and have their own level of appeal.
