In 2014, the ability to share files with other smartphone users, regardless of platform, is one of the top features that users want available to them. Sure, there is email and SMS as the old standbys, but increasingly people want direct ways to offer a song, photo, video, or documents.

Send Anywhere (send-anywhere.com) launched in early 2013 on iOS and Android, and now a port of the app by the company is available on Windows Phone. The free service works by uploading to a server the intended file, generating a numeric code, which you then give to the recipient. Using the same app, the receiver enters the unique code and retrieves the file to download to their device.

Send Anywhere for Windows Phone is not a pretty port, but it works. Graphics overlap on the right edges, and the stodgy UI looks extremely basic. However, putting aside aesthetic concerns, the app does what it is intended to do, send those files.

While the launch of Microsoft's Xbox One console was recently delayed in China, the Japanese launch came and went earlier this month with little fanfare. Xbox consoles have always struggled to gain consumer support in Nippon, and the Xbox One is no different. Still, the Japanese availability creates the opportunity for more types of software to be created, which non-Japanese consumers can choose to import or download.

The first Japan-exclusive Xbox One game Chaos;Child launched alongside the system. It even has a free demo that non-Japanese players can get without much effort. Meanwhile, two more Japanese games were recently announced at TGS: Raiden V, the latest in the venerable shoot 'em up series, and 'Azito X Tastunoko Chronicles,' a simulation game. These join Sega's already-announced Puyo Puyo Tetris. Read on to learn more about the upcoming Japanese Xbox One games and how to get the Chaos;Child demo!

Don't know what the word means? Just ask Cortana

As Microsoft and the Cortana team continue to refine the powerful AI and assistant, more features are slowly popping up online. A new one noticed by numerous people in our audience is definitions, powered by Oxford Dictionaries.

Load up Cortana and directly ask her 'What does _____ mean?' alternatively, 'What is the meaning of ____?' and the personal assistant from 500 years in the future pulls up a nice little card, complete with the word category and multiple definitions while exclaiming "I've found the meaning of…".

My Top Windows Phone Photography Apps

Windows Phone Central App Roundup: Photography Apps

While it may be a coin toss as to which genre of apps, weather or photo, are more numerous in the Windows Phone Store there is little doubt that we are fortunate to have plenty of quality choices with both.

I have got several photography apps installed on my Windows Phone and this week's roundup is going to focus on some of my favorite photo editors. These are photo apps that I have found helpful for quick fixes of photos as well as apps that can add a creative flair to images.

Now before you pass out the pitch forks and torches, there are plenty of photo apps out there that are solid Windows Phone apps such as Fhotoroom, Nokia's Creative Studio, , ProShot, Phototastic and even Fantasia Painter. While these are all quality apps, the apps in this week's roundup are ones that I currently find myself using with regularity.
