AT&T sending out text reminders on the Lumia 900 Update

AT&T Lumia 900 update reminder

Leaving no stone unturned, AT&T is sending out text messages to wireless customers reminding them of the Lumia 900 update. While at first you may think it is another update, the message is for the connectivity fix that launched back on April 13, 2012.

The message reads,

A software update may be available for your Nokia Lumia 900.  To see if your phone has an update available, visit www.nokiausa.com/lumia900update for instructions.  Nokia is providing a $100 AT&T bill credit for any inconvenience.  Credit may take up to 60 days to appear on bill.

The message also sheds some light on the $100 credit Nokia is applying to Lumia 900 owners who purchased their Windows Phone on or before April 21, 2012.  If you don't see it on this billing cycle, it should show up on the next.

Thanks to everyone who tipped us on this!

Update actually made mine worse.

ninnghizzida says:

Then you probably got a defective phone. How did it make it worse?

I went from not having any issues at all to getting the connection problems that some users are experiencing. A power off generally clears it up for a day or so.

dkp23 says:

Probably shouldnt exchange your phone, do you want to keep powering off your phone?

I plan on it, just haven't had much spare time lately.

OMG55 says:

You sound like a troll, but I'll go on a limb and say maybe you have a defective unit but I didn't have a problem before the update or after.

Mines had ha problem after updating it to Iv even posted it on here a while back I'll just exchange it for a newer one its a badass phone other then the lil problems I love the lumia :D

theman60099 says:

I agree, someone with the name grameer poleece definitely sounds like a troll.

A r i says:

You must be a smartphone beta tester.

CJ Thunder says:

I got my text.

jsayz says:

Thanks for the text AT&T, I was wondering about the credit! Could have used nice head phones for my beauty, but hey off bill works!

CheesyJif says:

Just use the money that you saved from using on your bill

gabewells says:

Soo.. If your data doesn't work how are you supposed to get the text? Just sayin...

jbjtkbw00#AC says:

Text comes across the voice portion of the service, not data.

edyg023 says:

I have the update and it still seems like it has issues.  If I plug it in overnight and pick it up in the morning the data connect sometimes doesn't work.  Very very frustrating.  I really like the phone.  I wonder if I have a bad phone.  Anyone else?

stevethenerd says:

I received this from Rogers...

Rogers svc msg: FYI! The incoming text msg time stamp problem that was affecting some Nokia Lumia 900 phones is now resolved! Sorry if you were inconvenienced.

simzzdev says:

I'm curious why the picture shows a Titan (I think) getting the Lumia update text. Btw i got my txt today

ZX9 says:

Just about to ask the same question.

derek13p says:

Wow, sad I didn't notice that. Maybe they forwarded it and used the lumia to take the pic? Still weird either way lmao

Yeah... the message goes to the account not so much the device.  I've got both and just happened to be using the Titan II this week.

I was wondering if anyone would notice the oddity. :)

I would've been more happier to use the credit to buy accessories for my phone like that wireless Nokia 360 speaker, but I I can't complain if it's $100 off by AT&T bill :)

Mine has been working as happy as could be, so I'm not sure what I have to gain from installing the fix (I haven't even bothered installing Zune and connecting the phone yet). Any reason not to go with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?"

jimski says:

Aside from the data fix, the update was supposed to tweak a few things. Eventually you will want/need something ina future update and you will have to run each of updates in the cue. SO take your medicine and just do it already. No data problems here pre and post update.
Not going to suggest that those with problems, don't really have them. But I am pretty sure that the update did not cause them. More likely improperly provisioned micro-sims. Or the folks moving the levers in the back room at AT&T havve no idea what they are doing. I dread when I have to contact AT&T about a connection issue. They usually fix one thing and break two others. Just sayin.

I say go for it too because it sounds like what happened to me is an isolated incident. It's technology, sometimes crap happens. But it appears they (Nokia & ATT) have been on top of things with this phone.

Chacness says:

Thanks for the reminder AT&T, but how about the rest of us waiting on bug fixes that have had are phones for more than a month.

mdelacoma says:

What is the most current firmware number? I'm on my second 900. The first was fine until I updated it. After the update it was laggy, confused (not sure what else to call it-an example would be swiping to the right and watching the screen move halfway over then jump to a new page as if you selected a link instead of swiping)and just overall not the same nice phone. So I exchanged it yesterday. I was skimming for an article I read that contained the most current firmware number. If this new phone is fine, which it is, then what if I'm not running the most current version? Should I update or not? Some say you should/have to. And previous experience tells me not to.

I've got OS 7.10.8112.7

carmello2045 says:

For me, the update fixed the data issue but then Bing likes to open for no reason and i can't play a game without the voice control coming on. Other than that, its fine. This is my 3rd cyan lumia, by the way.
