AT&T updating Focus S and Flash to OS 7739.25?

7739.25?

Another day, another odd OS update. This time we're getting word from reader Justin A. that the Focus S and Focus Flash were seen in an AT&T store sporting OS build 7739.25. We guess AT&T could not afford the 0.75 to get 7740? Oh, we jest.

No word on an OS changes or fixes here, though seeing as how close it is to 7740, we surmise that this could be a US version of that update which features the Exchange 2003 email fix. That's cold comfort though for all of us who have the "disappearing keyboard" bug which is addressed, along with other security fixes, in OS build 8107. That build of the OS, which features LTE support and will be found on the Nokia Lumia 900 and HTC TITAN II, began rolling out last week. No word on any US carriers getting that update.

We just checked our Focus S to see if there was an update pending and alas, nothing. Hopefully we'll find out more soon.

Update: We should also note that the Firmware has a slight change (11.11.1), as does the Radio Hardware (0.0.0.6 versus our 0.0.0.0) and a slightly newer Bootloader (5.11.3 versus our 5.10.2.0) meaning this seems like a genuine pending OS update.

Thanks, Justin, for the pic!

AT&T updating Focus S and Flash to OS 7739.25?

Hopefully this is a bug fix update. The Focus Flash freezes up quite often when recieving txt messages.  Think it's a thing with the proximity sensor.  Pretty annoying.

That's just one of those store versions for the demo that has the store demo default screen on it... If that made any sense.

Hmm... I hope the device firmware will fix the audio and bluetooth issues that have been plaguing the Focus S.  I have had numerous times where my Focus S will reboot after turning off my car (which my phone is paired to the MS Sync system in my 2012 Ford Edge) and within 20 seconds looking at the screen, or when I receive a text message and it's going to read the message to me.  The audio issues being two major items where the audio level is too low overall, and playing a game with headphones on you can't hear the sound FX, only the music.  I verified the sound issue at the two MS stores here in So Cal (the one in The Shops at Mission Viejo and South Coast Plaza) with their own headphones, so I know I'm not crazy.

I have the same issue with Bluetooth out-of-call volume being too low since they updated the firmware for the Samsung Focus (1st gen) to 2103.11.8.1. In my car, if I turn up the volume on the car to correct for it, in-call volume is way too loud! I've tried to contact Samsung Support to no avail. Consequently, I've just rolled my phone back to the old firmware and refuse to leave it upgraded until the problem is fixed. I know I won't be buying another Samsung phone after this, though. There's no reason to change the functionality of the phone for the worse one year after its release, and one year into contract.
