Balloon Gunner - Review
Balloon Gunner is an interesting game for your Windows Phone. The Windows Phone 7 game is a 3D shooter that has you piloting an air balloon, conquering the skies over an island chain.
At your disposal, you have an assortment of weapons including a machine gun, rockets and bombs. You pilot your balloon with the Windows Phone's g-sensor and fire your weapons by tapping the screen. Sounds simple enough, right?

Your enemy targets range from balloons to bi-planes to ground canons. To help you keep track of your enemies location you have a radar display at the bottom/center of your screen. Next to that you'll see your damage meter.
Game play was a little challenging. Your machine gun lacks cross-hairs so firing it requires a little guess work. Navigating the balloon takes a little getting used to but I like the use of the Windows Phone's sensors. The pace picks up rather nicely when your in the middle of a dog-fight and it's easy to get caught up in the game, leaning into your balloons maneuvers.
Balloon Gunner is a 3D shooter but the graphics seems a little lacking. The appearance has a bit of a retro feel to it. The game ran smoothly with no bugs, glitches or crashes experienced. If you like aerial shooter games, Balloon Gunner is worth a try.
There is a trial version of Balloon Gunner that will let you play the first three levels. The full copy will run you $1.29 and you can find it here (opens Zune) at the Marketplace.
