Did you get a shiny lump of coal for Christmas? Not planning on keeping it until the world's reserves run low? Don't worry, Microsoft has your back! The good people over at Microsoft Canada have just started a promotion entitled "The Developer Movement" where they are handing out cool toys to dev's just for publishing high-quality apps to the Windows Phone Marketplace up until May 20'th 2012.

So what do you get? It's based on how many apps you publish within that time, and here are the rewards:

PUBLISH 1 QUALITY APP
       Select a reward below:

  • A Kinect™ Sensor for Xbox 360®
  • 10,000 Microsoft Points
  • Monster® Beats™ Headphones
  • A 1TB External HD

PUBLISH 2 QUALITY APPS
      Select a reward below:

  •     A Windows® Phone 7
  •     A $500 Gift Voucher
  •     35,000 Microsoft Points
  •     An Xbox 360® with Kinect Bundle

PUBLISH 3 QUALITY APPS
Your apps will be considered by our judges for publicity across:

  •     The Xbox Newsletter
  •     The Xbox Live Dashboard
  •     MSDN Website
  •     MSDN Flash Newsletter
  •     Canadian Developer Blog

The website also mentions that the first 200 people that register (for the Developer Movement) may get their AppHub account for free. So if you're a Canadian developer then what are you waiting for? It really is a win-win offer.

Cool, eh?

Canada is America's hat!!

And you're an ass's hat... :P

Also, Canada is a physically larger country than the US. Look at a map.

Canada is Canada, we do our stuff you do yours and the world loves Canada for that.

How amazing is this?? Time to finish the two apps I've started! Microsoft is really doing everything right right now! Happy to be a Canadian!

Only thing better would be new devices on Canadian carriers...

Yes, new devices are lacking in the US and Canada.

At least the US *has* new devices... Canadians only have the 1st Gen devices, and those and are quickly disappearing. I have an HD7 on Bell, which is currently EOL, and the Optimus Quantum, their other device, was pulled a couple months ago. The Quantum is the only device available on TELUS, and Rogers only has the Samsung Focus. Those are the only providers with comprehensive nationwide coverage, and none of them have announced any intention to carry the new devices.

Who denotes "Quality" apps?

Awesome!! Wish they had kept similar options for India :)
