Browser Plus gets update, adds landscape support

The other day we reported on the new $0.99 Browser Plus, which adds tabbed browsing to Mobile Internet Explorer. One downside was the lack of landscape support and also some complained it was slow on loading.

Now the developer, Sriram Krishnan who works for Microsoft, has already cranked out an update and we have to give it a huge thumbs up. Landscape support is now enabled and works extremely well and allowing tabs to be fully visible. It also seems to load web pages more quickly and "Private Mod" has been fixed to read just "Private" now, which allows traceless browsing.

If you were hesitant before, you shouldn't be now as this is now our default browser on our phone. Watch the video to see the new features in action.

Browser Plus gets update, adds landscape support

This is hilarious, a Microsoft employee makes an add-on for the browser and it uses Google as the main search engine instead of Microsoft's own Bing search...lol. Wow, someone doesn't seem happy with their employers product. Maybe if he adds an option to change the default search, I'll pony up the 99 cents.

@win_splash A build containing Bing as an option is in certification and should be out in a day or two (so I expect to see you pony up 99 cents ;)).

I didn't add Bing at first for the simple reason that most people had Bing already built into the phone so it seemed redundant (and also because I wanted to get the app out of the door quickly). Anyhow, it should be there for everyone when it passes certification

This update just made it out to the marketplace. You should see it in a few hours. This adds Bing, clear history and a ton of bug fixes

I would consider if he could add pop up be on or off. Can't use our communicator based web site. Says it is being blocked by pop up blocker.

Downloaded it. It works well, and everything renders just like the native IE app. My only wish would be including "favorite" support. Also, if you have more than 4 tabs open, it's impossible to close the furthest left tab, since the "X" is hidden all the way to the right. Also, in landscape mode, it can still only show 4 tabs along the top, and blocks of black space are to the left and right.

Anyway, it's a pretty good app, and I'm more than willing to dish out 1 dollar for real tabbed browsing.

@Carlos - yup, that's an issue. I'm trying to figure a way around it but I probably won't get around to it before some other higher priority fixes.

Thanks for the review. Like I said in some of the other comments, I have a build in certification adding Bing and also a way to clear history. Working on some of the other features that people here are asking for as well as some surprise features.

If anybody in Seattle would like their $0.99 back, I'll be happy to buy them a coffee where they tell me why they hated it :). Everyone else, just mail me at support@browserplus.it or @sriramk
