Misfit Shine (misfitwearables.com) is a new and modern smart device used to measure daily activity, like running, walking, sleeping and more. Like Fitbit, your scores are synced to the cloud where your phone acts as a conduit for record keeping, goal setting, and social interaction.

Today, the official Misfit Shine app is available for Windows Phone 8.1, joining iOS and Android. Due to the availability of Bluetooth 4.0 LE and the new APIs for developers, Misfit can get their app on Microsoft's mobile OS.

I have been using both the hardware and software for a few days now and this is all you need to know.

It was only yesterday when Opera threw up its Mini web browser for Windows Phone, opening up the beta program for the Windows Phone community. After covering the app itself and using it for some time, it's clear to see there's some work to do. The team behind the app have already released an update today and are actively encouraging everyone to provide feedback to help them work on bugs and improvements.

Update: it seems as though this update actually makes the app more unstable, according to comments received (and we've just confirmed the crash issue ourselves).

If you are job hunting, getHired is an app hoping to help you find opportunities from the comfort of your Windows Phone. getHired is a search engine that taps into eight job opportunity sources that spans more than sixty countries.

Think of getHired as a huge Help Wanted section of your local newspaper. In just tinkering with the app for a short time, it comes across as a nice resource for those in search of employment. It is also this week's myAppFree deal.

Although there is no shortage of fine weather apps for Windows Phone, when it comes to Windows 8.1, things are a bit different. There is a selection of weather apps, but from my experience, there is a dearth of quality ones that highlight the Modern look of Windows for tablets and PCs. I know everyone cites Bing Weather as his or her go-to app, and with good reason. Assuming, however, you want something different– and the ability to ditch ads – Ambient Weather is my choice these days.

Ambient Weather is not a new app, in fact, I have been using for nearly a year now. However, Ambient Weather has been getting a nice amount of updates lately, and this mini-review is long overdue in highlighting this fantastic app.

Adobe's Creative Cloud video apps will soon offer proper support for the high resolution HiDPI displays available on modern Windows laptops like the Dell XPS 15. The apps have been stuck in low-res mode for what seems like an eternity (even if the Retina laptops are really just a few years old at this point), and so soon users of Adobe Premiere Pro CC, After Effects CC, Prelude CC, and the rest of the Adobe video suite will soon be enjoying true Retina quality to their work.

We showed you what's new with Lumia Camera and a closer look at its awesome Rich Capture feature, but there's another feature worth getting excited about. Microsoft is calling it Moment Capture. Basically, a long press of the camera button starts 4K-quality video recording at 24 frames per second. Each frame is equivalent to an 8.3 megapixel image that can be saved. Want to see it in action? Watch our hands-on video!

Postcards is a simple photo sharing Windows Phone app that allows you to send a photo to random users worldwide. The interface is straightforward and the only information shared is your photo, the city where the photo was taken and any comments you add to the photo.

Postcards may not rank up there with the likes of Instagram or Fhotoroom with regards to photo sharing networks. However, if you like the randomness of seeing what is out there in the world, it might be worth a try.

If you ask me to name one thing that I liked the most from the recent Microsoft press conference, I'd say it's the new Lumia Camera. If you haven't heard, Nokia Camera will be updated to Lumia Camera as part of the Lumia Denim update. What I'm really excited about is the feature in Lumia Camera that Microsoft calls, Rich Capture. It's a new mode that can be quickly enabled with one tap. Watch the demo on video to see what it's all about.
