Should you be interested in Meteorology, EMS, or be an avid storm chaser, you're options on Windows Phone are fairly limited. This could be about to change with the introduction of MRLevel3. The app is exclusively available on Windows Phone (oh, hello there Disqus) and is right up your street if you're into the weather (quite literally) in the US.

It was back at the beginning of January, CES to be exact, that we first saw the official GoPro app for Windows Phone. It was running on a cool blue Lumia 920 and looked fairly finished. At the time the company said to expect the app in mid-February. It came and went, we then saw it again at Mobile World Congress at a ‘partner app’ from Nokia. We then learn we’d expect it sometime ‘this spring’. That means anytime between March 20th and June 21st, since that’s how long spring is. If you’re impatient, here’s another third party app filling the gap - Action Camera.

Although the whole Instagram brouhaha is still going on with Windows Phone, Nokia has kindly updated their universal Windows Phone app #2InstaWithLove with a new filter.

The new effect is called HandCam and it adds a reddish hue along with saturated darks to the image it is applied too (as opposed to the more yellow Polaroid look). It still keeps with the retro-Instagram style while giving users a bit more flexibility for image creativity.

Can we get a drum roll, please? Dailymotion for Windows Phone has been updated (no, this is not a delayed April Fools) to take full advantage of the latest version of Microsoft's mobile platform. The app reveals that we're looking at version 1.3.1.0 and the update should be pushing out as we speak so be sure to keep an eye on Windows Phone Store notifications. So what's new in this release?

Instagraph landed in the Windows Phone Store last week. The app had a rough start but seems to be going strong at the moment, letting users upload pictures to their Instagram accounts on Windows Phone, sans iOS or Android. The one thing it can't do it, is view apps on the popular social network. Instead you've got some fairly good apps in the Store that let you view, comment and like photos on Instagram. One of those is Metrogram.

By now the narrative that Windows Phone is finally starting to pick up steam with developer should be familiar. It seems as if every few days a few big titles get released to the Store, giving Windows Phone users a semblance of platform parity.

The app Countdown+++ is one of the most popular utilities on iOS due to its colorful simplicity. It’s what it sounds like, an app for entering in due dates for whatever topic you want, creating a countdown clock for you to periodically check. It’s one of the top 50 utility apps on the iPhone and maintains a strong 5-star rating from 4500 reviews. The fact that it is now on Windows Phone is always a welcome sight, as it allows iOS users to more easily switch platforms.

Official NBC News app hits Windows Phone 8

You know what's crazy? Microsoft and NBC once ran a joint news channel and website called MSNBC. But back in 2005, NBC bought the stake that Microsoft had in the news channel and only last year completed the transaction to completely take over the website. It then went from being msnbc.com to nbcnews.com. And now you've got an official Windows Phone app to keep tabs on the latest news from that very site.

DualCamPhoto is one of the more interesting Windows Phone 8 camera apps in that you capture photos using both the front and rear cameras with a single press of the shutter. DualCamPhoto was recently updated to version 2 and adds a nice set of features to the mix to give users a little more control over the end product.

You now have post editing capabilities with DualCamPhoto to allow users a choice in how their dual photos are presented. You have the traditional side-by-side plus picture-in-picture and a split image view.

Skype for Windows Phone is a constant work in progress, and it looks like Microsoft is serious about making sure it’s up to task. So it’s great to see version 2.5.0.135 (up from the previous 2.4.0.108 about a month ago) get published to the Windows Phone Store within the last hour (indeed, it’s so new we’re having trouble downloading it).

Video game retailer GAME is continuing to push its mobile app for Windows Phone. The company has now released version 4, which follows the recent update that only came out last month. Version 3 of GAME Reward sported Wallet integration and a user interface refresh. It was a welcomed bump, but there's always room for improvement. Cue yet another update.

LinkedIn is admittedly one of the nicest looking apps on Windows Phone. It’s also an invaluable tool for professionals, where it acts like a more sophisticated Facebook but for job history (and less photos of silly babies).

The app though hasn’t had an update since its initial release, way back in May 2012. So here we are on the cusp of its anniversary and we’ve been blessed with version 1.1, which is now live in the Store. The fact that it now works well with no connection issues is the good news. The bad news is there’s nothing else for us to say about the app as no new features have been added, as far as we can tell.

MetroTalk is our go-to app for all things Google Voice, a service which we need due to having so many phones and SIM cards (plus that free text messaging is a nice bonus). Earlier this week we saw Google make some API changes, resulting in a critical login failure for this and other Google Voice clients on Windows Phone.

Look, we know the official Facebook app leaves a lot to be desired from most of you. But thankfully we’ve got a great community of developers willing to step up and fill a need. If you manage a Facebook page as either a hobby or a more serious role you’ll want to check out Page Manager.

Consider this an FYI post as we really have no other details, but Nokia has pushed out a minor update for their Display + Touch system app (found under Settings). The app is now version 1.5.2.1 and may be related the 1308/1314 firmware that went out recently.

Pic Lock Ultimate is a feature rich photography app for your Windows Phone 8 device that keeps your photos and videos secure from prying eyes.

Pic Lock Ultimate uses a four digit or alphanumeric passcodes, has an anti-intruder system, and a panic warp system to quickly exit the app. Pic Lock is one of the more creative photo/video vaults we've seen but has a few issues that really needs to be ironed out before Pic Lock Ultimate can shine.

We mentioned Microsoft's new Red Stripe Deal promotion earlier this month. It's not a special on Jamaican Beer but rather weekly discounts on Windows Phone apps and games. Every week Microsoft will highlight certain apps at a discounted price and you can pick them out of a crowd by the red stripe that surrounds their icon.

This week's deals includes the Xbox Live game Tiki Towers, the independent game Doodle Devil and the photography app Pictures Lab. All three Windows Phone apps have had their prices discounted from $2.99 to $.99.
