CEO of AT&T Mobility pleased with Windows Phone and the future

WP Central

As well as the success in China, in the states Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobility, had the following to say about Windows Phone and its future with Microsoft's upcoming dekstop OS release, Windows 8.

"I am really pleased with what I am seeing out of Microsoft and Nokia coming out with their first product. The operating system works really well. It is simple, it is easy to use, it is intuitive. The reception to the Lumia launch has actually exceeded our expectations. So we think there is a very good chance that Microsoft will have a very good OS that will be right in there with iOS and Android.

When they come out with Windows 8 in the fourth quarter, I think it will actually add to the value that that OS brings to the marketplace, in that that will be the first time that you can truly have a similar experience on your PC, on your tablet, and on your smartphone from soft Microsoft. From what I have seen and the previews that I have been given, I think it is going to be exceptionally good. I am very upbeat in what they are bringing to the market."

Microsoft is pushing the "three screens metro" vision with Windows Phone and the recent Xbox dashboard update. Consumers are patiently awaiting for Windows 8, which will sport the same tile system being used that's currently iconic with Windows Phone. Vega believes this familiarity with the desktop, tablet and smartphone will give consumers a reason to use Windows Phone (as well as other Microsoft products).

We already know the AT&T Mobility CEO is satisfied with the Lumia 900, and even promoted it instead of talking iPhone 5, but it's pleasing to know that he's also looking to the future of the platform, as well as Nokia and Microsoft's current push.

LMFAO..... WOW.... if that guys picture doesn't scream "sleeze-ball" I don't know what does. That face matches perfectly with their outrageous price gouging and their nazi throttling.

Godwin's law already? Yeesh...

Can we stay a bit above character attacks and WWII references? These are just phones...

gmantione says:

Normally I would stay above it... But despite the overbearingly uncalled for remarks, i do see his point. The guy is somewhat of a natural caricature lol.

Then you are just as much as a hijo de la gran puta vieja as the person who posted that nonsense is. Probably wouldn't say the sane nonsense if the guy was white.

aubreyq says:

LMAO! Un HP, jajaja!

I thought he was white....

And since he isn't you decide to say that nonsense. Desgraciado!

Yes...apparently

If anyone is a sleaze ball its yourself for making this comment. How about just being proud of windows phone?

I think you forgot to say cabrón, amigo.

May deepest apologizes to Daniel. It just felt odd that with the reputation AT&T has in the mobile community as being the modern day Snake-Oil Salesmen, that this is who they use to represent them. My apologizes again, was not trying to start and uproar. I'll be more careful next time. No problems.

hehe, love that picture of de la vega on squack box

He has a pleasant face. He looms like a nice guy.

jdep1 says:

I would have that same look in my face if I was making as much money as him. Nokia+MS=$$$$ :-)

Kiveau says:

" (as well as other Microosft products). " Should be Microsoft, of course. It's okay don't worry I'm not judging you :)
However, YESSSSSSSSSSSS xD

AT&T is happy that their initially lukewarm bet in Windows Phone is starting to pay off. I don't think they necessarily want a third player, but more so a competitor to Apple.

dameon_03 says:

good to see all this good news about windows phone and also the press that it is getting

xmarklive says:

That picture scared me.....lol

bono5112 says:

All positive exposure lately, people just need to use this OS before bashing it.

karelj says:

Good. Maybe now they will stop this ludicrous practice of holding off on updates because of 'testing'.

XboxOmac says:

Positive exposure. Now, just lure in people. When I bought my Lumia 900 on launch day, there were many advertisements across the store, but, none of the employees were mentioning that. Guess the employees still need some talk. Would help. Just like they lure consumers to phones they like, they should do the same for Windows Phone.

mccasive says:

The person who should bow down in shame is the loud-mouthed MS hater of a journalist Joshua Toposky who declared the Lumia 900 DOA.

Great news and it just makes me feel even more happy I made the switch to big blue! While sales staff will always be more inclined to sell what they use personally, and that goes with every industry really, their support has been excellent IMO and I know well be the first ones to hit the dance floor when Tango drops. The whole disappearing keyboard has been such a mild inconvienence that I can understand why they waited...and it hasn't made me dislike my Focus S one bit!

OMG55 says:

Agreed! But we have a lot of winners; like if the 900 isn't upgradeable....if the new hardware is better, I'll buy it. The iPhone 4 & 4s are cosmetically identical with siri and retina display(which average consumer doesn't know the difference), yet they bought it. But here @WPcentral all people do is cry.

Los says:

Too bad the other carriers don't see the big picture. Seems like AT&T sees it very clearly. I made a thread in the forums about how important Windows 8 will be for Windows Phone

Nakazul says:

The most interesting thing i wonder with Windows 8 is if inconsistent behaviour will go away between Phone, Xbox and PC. For a example, what happens if you plugin your phone in these other 2 products.

rich4A1 says:

This is great news.  Not just the sales exceeding expectation, but AT&T is still promoting Lumia on national TV.  Last time when it happened it could be argued that they were just doing it for their newest phone, but now they have One X and they're still talking about Lumia 900 is much more significant.
