Check out Spartan Runner for Windows Phone, a Halo themed endless runner

Spartan Runner

When it comes to video games there’s not much we like more than Halo. Which is why we’re pretty stoked to see this endless runner game from the Halo universe. It’s called Spartan Runner and you play as a Spartan. Your objective? Get as far as you can and kill as many members of the Covenant as possible.

Spartan Runner features many memorable characters, weapons, sounds and backgrounds from the Halo universe. Grunts? Check. Elites? Check. Sniper? Check. Freaking Hunters? Check.

Spartan Runner

Gameplay is simple. Tap one button to jump and another to shoot. You can collect credits to use on perks for the next time you play. It’s not a bad game overall and one worth downloading since it’s both free and has no ads.

How is this all legal you ask? The developer cites a page on Microsoft’s website about “Game Content Usage Rules”. It appears the material there might apply to just video reviews and machine, but here we are with Spartan Runner ready for you to download onto your Windows Phone.

Want Spartan Runner? It’s 110% free and available for download from the Windows Phone Store.

Since MS fixed the permissions display I have been noticing a lot of apps wanting access to libraries they don't need at all. Uninstalled about 3 apps once I found what they were accessing.

Microsoft should put in the ability to controll all app permissions manually on the phone on a per-app bases. If the app really needs it it would just not work, but the user should have the ultimate control, and not merely be warned what an app wants to access.

Where did you find out this info, aside from finding each app in the store and looking up what they access?

Has there been a WP Central article about this sort of thing? I'd also like to know why apps need to access features that have nothing to do with the app.

Plenty of weapons? Check.

Iconic music? Check.

Lots of fun? Check.

Not assaulted with IAPs every 5 seconds? Check.

Endless runners really should take a cue from games like this rather than trying to be Subway Surfer knock-offs. =D

This reminds me of the Halo Zero game some fans made. Very simaler art styles. It was a fun little free download, so I'll give it a try.

That little clause the dev cited is well known. As long as you're not profiting in any way MS is cool with fan made Halo projects.

LOL love it.

Very good well done Mr developer.

Just shows you what 343 could be doing if MS worked out they have a handheld gaming system and good licenses.

Hey its not made by 343bungieMS..... but its bloody good Halo fun. Shame MS cant put something as simple as this together, licence it, stick Xbox live on it an Bobs your uncle. But that said, who bloody cares this is free. It brings you us a Halo themed game that is fun and very addictive, liking it.

I'm a Halo gamer and loved the music and the little things such as the grunts making fun at you when losing but man, I got bored after playing for 3 min. It isn't that hard. Great though!

Okay... it's fun.  Not great, but certainly good enough to waste a few minutes waiting for class to start... I get into Jetpack Joyride a bit too much.
