Nokia Imaging Chief Damian Dinning leaves the company

Damian Dinning, Head of Cameras and Imaging at Nokia, has decided to leave the company, effective November 30th, 2012. It comes as a blow to the Finnish manufacturer as Dinning joined Nokia back in 2004 and brought with him years of experience in cameras and photography, with the likes of Minolta UK and Eastman Kodak under his belt.
Amateur Photography reports that the decision of Dinning has come as a blow to bosses at Nokia. The company is in the process of pushing out its latest smartphone, the Lumia 920 running Windows Phone 8, which sports an innovative camera on-board. To lose such an experienced employee will be a loss to the manufacturer.
Nokia has released a statement:
"Following the relocation of key strategic roles to Finland, and with great reluctance, Damian Dinning has made a personal decision to leave the company effective 30 November 2012. During the past nine years, [Damian] has made many innovative and valuable contributions to Nokia, most recently as a lead program manager in our Smart Devices business. We thank him for his service to the company and certainly wish him the best."
We understand Nokia has yet to announce a successor.

That's very surprising. He will be missed. Pureview was quite the technological leap in the mobile devices space and it all came under his lead.
Winning Guy says:
Now he could spend more time acting as The Governor in the Walking Dead TV show.

From their statement, it sounds like he left because of potential relocation issues.
GoodThings2Life says:
Yeah... That's what I'd think too.
erzhik says:
This sucks ass. $50 says Apple will hire him.
ChristianKing says:
It will be interesting to see where he ends up. Maybe he ends up at Microsoft or Apple. With his background it would make since to remain in the mobile apace because non SLR cameras are not long for this world.
Winning Guy says:
While it seems that the reason for Dinning's departure is related to relocation issues, I do imagine that the idea of moving to the Bay Area of California might be more appealing than Finland.
TaichiSurface says:
hmm...guess that daylight issue fix will not come for quite while
aubreyq says:
Please.
Winning Guy says:
Yeah. Because he's the only person who worked in the camera division.
Xaphoon148 says:
Going to get fixed...
The guy at the factory that's responsible to adjust focus on the camera, has got a new pair of glasses...
Prodigy11 says:
The real brains behind Pureview and other camera technology comes from Nokia's Tampere-unit and it's engineers. Damian was a great person, and a great leader for this team, but the knowhow is still where it has always been. All the best for Damian.
Cellus13 says:
Ugh this is starting to annoy me. Hopefully this won't effect the future Lumia's that will have pure view.
TonyDedrick says:
Why are you annoyed? How does this affect you in any way?
schlubadub says:
What if I told you... There are other people in the world with suitable skills & qualifications to replace him :P
PolishHitta says:
Lets just hope that whoever will replace him will be as passionate if not even more about mobile imaging

OH DAMN ,NOKIA's Stock price jumped to 3.56 giving company green light and they come-up with THIS. I don't want to see these articles I wanna see article titled: " Nokia breaks EE and AT&T exclusivities after just couple of weeks, fullfills global stocks with their new Lumias, reports over 1 milion WP8 devices sold in just couple of weeks." But I guess this won't happen and so Nokia will sink ,even though I just got Lumia 920 after using 800 for 7 months...ehhhhhhhhhhhhh ARGHHHHHHHHHHH (sometimes I really wish to be a CEO of company like that and I know I would do all I can to fix it) .
DarkVastarien says:
Yes, you definitely seem like the man for the job. o__o
Aldoron says:

Looks like he's going to Jaguar/LandRover to help them with making connected cars.
cp2_4eva says:
Funny how you guys care so much for this guy lol. He cares nothing about you.
WPCrook says:
They're not caring for him; they're scared of what's going to happen to Nokia because, apparently, Earth will cease to rotate on its axis now because he has left. However, most only know of him through this WPCentral article. So, they're making themselves look rather silly!
RichardSF says:
He has announced that he is joining Jaguar Land Rover.
