Nokia Monster Purity Headset Promotion

Nokia giving away free Purity Headset to new Lumia owners (Updated)

If you've purchased a new Nokia Windows Phone over the past few days, you can cash in on a free set of Nokia Monster Purity headsets (the in-ear models). Just head over to and fill in the blanks, print off the completed form, include a copy of the original sales receipt and UPC/barcode from your box and send it all into Nokia.

Now for the fine print.

Qualifying Windows Phones include the Lumia 920 and 820 from AT&T, the Lumia 810 from T-Mobile and the Lumia 822 from Verizon. Purchases must have been made between November 20, 2012 and December 31, 2012 and at a participating retail store in the U.S. and District of Columbia. Your redemption form and proof of purchase postmarked by January 16, 2012 and received by Nokia's Promotional Center by January 31, 2012. The $90 headset offer is limited to one per device/person/household. Headset should be shipped out within 4-6 weeks after the redemption material is received and approved.

Update - We have a statement from Nokia on the confusion over the promotion, which should explain the limitations:

"We are very pleased by the positive response to our Lumia range in the US. And I agree, there are some great holiday deals to be had. However, this particular promotion is an exclusive offer available only through our 8 pop-up stores in the US. We apologize for the confusion."

Doug Dawson
VP, Media Relations, Nokia

Thanks, Jeff, for the tip!

DroBoy says:

So if you bought it from Vzw, ATT or T-mobile retail you don't qualify? I'm really starting to dislike Nokia right about now.

Yangstax says:

I bought a black L920 on Black Friday at $49.99 with a free charging pad (both are back ordered).  Now a free headset is on its way unexpectedly.  What's next -a free JBL speaker?  :)  My NOK shares started to move aggressively also.  X'mas seems to be coming early this year.

Mad Strings says:

Elop said he is going to check with his team about those who preordered the device. And the rules clearly state that carriers retail stores hold the promotion not pop up stores. That can get Nokia in some legal issues over breaking a contract.

og-gq says:

Pop-up stores? What's that? I already sent my letter out!

inteller says:

this is a complete screw up. I mean seriously...first it was the from the 16th....then in a matter of hours it was changed to the 20th (mine was already in the mail by then) Then it is some pop up stores. Hey I KNOW! Let's change the rules again that says you can only get this if you bought the phone directly from Elop himself at the stroke of midnight yesterday....or is that today? I'm sure all 3 people will be glad to get their free headphones.

kebnt says:

Agreed.  This is pretty bad, especially when the terms and conditions specifically mentions AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile Retail stores, not the "Nokia Experience" pop-up stores.  Of course Nokia reserves the right to change the terms at its discretion, but it's a bad PR move after the site was left up to mislead people and the terms and conditions still mention the carrier retail stores.

malimal says:

I have the reciept, but the box got messed up and threw it away.

camptime says:

I was told I would get the free headphones and wireless charger here in Thailand. :)

noshiro21 says:

this is just another scam promotion, just like the free charger from att.
i place the order for the plate, an it doesnt show in the system that i order it. i called att 3 times, place the order 3 times, but still when i call and check the order status, theres nothing in the system showing that i placed an order.
this is BS, really... either att can or wont give the charger or they just dont have it anymore to give away....
i was told that i need to either buy it an then get refund it for it later. come on, this is really BS,.
an now this headset offer, that it needs to be purchase by the 20th an up, what about the people that got it on lauch week, they should b the first one to get the offers, not the black friday buyers..
nokia /att scam sale....all i can said.

Glad to see that you are not at all being intelligent here.

1. Your grammar is atrocious. Work on that.
2. This does NOT apply to AT&T only; it applies to the T-Mobile 710 and Verizon 822, so calling it an AT&T scam is dumb.
3. Myself and MANY others have gotten their wireless chargers without issue, so it's CLEARLY not a scam. Maybe they ran out (it DID say it was while supplies lasted).

Why don't you stop treating your anecdotal occurrence like it is the absolute truth of the universe and slamming a company people have shown great appreciation for time and time again (whether for the pricing of the Lumias on AT&T or their general lifelong stellar build quality). Perhaps you got unlucky with a glitch in the ordering system or you were too late.

splash112 says:

All you early adopters complaining about not getting the free headphones think of it this way, its like going to the supermarket and buying a tub of Pringles and a couple of days later the Pringles are buy one get one free, you aren't entitled to a free tub because you bought them before the promo started.. Lol

S Rodrigo says:

My Pringles aren't usually backordered and supposed to ship in 3-5 days with no movement whatsoever in a week. I believe when I buy your imaginary pringles I get them same day. If you haven't received your device but ordered before their window you should be entitled to any promo until they finally deliver on your order.

splash112 says:

No because you ordered before the promotion began, making you ineligible

dalydose says:

Are you really comparing a durable product to a consumable good, all the while ignoring the gap in price point and the contract that goes along with the higher priced item? I could go on with how this analogy doesn't work on...well, any level.

splash112 says:

The point is the item was bought/pre-ordered before the promotion began

dalydose says:

The analogy is horrible, regardless.  Well, if I was designing the promotion, I would include everyone who is still in their "return window" to avoid having a bunch of brand new refurbs.

ScottAB says:

Two things:
1. If you live in MI/United States a firmly worded letter to Nokia, with a CC to the MI attorney general office should garner you a set of head phones if you can find a pre-updated advertisement.
2. Those in the buyer's remorse period should return Lumia for another phone, get reciept, return that phone, get Lumia, get reciept, get headphones. They play games, you play games.

Got mine on 11/9. The return windows ended 11/23. This article was posted 11/24. Too late. I can't help but wonder if that was intended.

Legal action over headphones? Jajajajaja seriously?

No, it's not the same. Why? For starters, you don't sign a 2-year agreement on a can of Pringles. Phones also aren't a consumable that you only have for a short period of time; just about anyone who bought one of these phones still has it in full working order, to the extent that it coudl be returned and resold to a new person who wouldn't even notice that it was lightly used beforehand.
This is a matter of showing loyalty, really. People aren't claiming that they DESERVE free stuff. It's not entitlement. IT's customers saying that they are being somewhat loyal to Nokia by being early adopters (and potenitally getting shafted on Black Friday pricing that followed). They're just asking that Nokia treats them with the same sort of loyalty (which they kind of did with the chargers, but EVERYONE gets those).

What about Verizon?

> They're just asking that Nokia treats them with the same sort of loyalty (which they kind of did with the chargers, but EVERYONE gets those).

GonzoMcGee says:

Sigh... No love for is Europeans here.

Narr says:

US only..... shame.

ealexand#CB says:

tough dilema, buy 920 online thru att for $50 credit from my credit card company or buy at a retail store for the headphones

ealexand#CB says:

also, can all the "early adopters" stop complaining. This happens all the time and if youre buying a high profile decice ojn launch day you should go into it knowing youre not getting the best price and youre going to miss out on promotions.  thats how it works.  you get to have it on day 1. thats your reward

kcaneiro says:

Is is what the form states: End-user legal residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older, who purchase a qualifying Nokia Lumia device during the “Offer Period” (defined below) at participating AT&T®, T-Mobile® or Verizon® retail stores in the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, will be eligible to receive one (1) Nokia Monster Purity Headset; Model WH-920 (ARV: $90.00) by mail, while supplies last (the “Offer”). The qualifying Nokia Lumia devices for this offer are: Nokia Lumia 820 (AT&T), Nokia Lumia 920 (AT&T), Nokia Lumia 810 (T-Mobile) and Nokia Lumia 822 (Verizon). Limit one (1) Offer per device/person/household. Void where prohibited. All claim submissions must include the sales receipt showing purchase price and store name, dated between November 20, 2012, and December 31, 2012, and the 15-digit IMEI of the device purchased.

kcaneiro says:

Sorry - that is what the form states. I just downloaded it from the site. It clearly says at AT&T retail stores. I sent out for two yesterday. I expect my headsets regardless of how they are changing the terms and conditions now.

On per phone/person/household.. Which means unless you used a different name and address, you're only getting one set. :-\

rav4kar says:

I must say...Nokia must inlcude "Purity Headset" with every Lumia Unit by default, like HTC's beats , iPhone's Earpods headset.

Wilson920 says:

We should at least get a discount seeing as though we didn't get a pair of headphones with our 920. Funny thing is, I was just in the At&t store yesterday and they are offering a charging pad in ALL COLORS for free lol. So new buyers are getting the phone, any color charging pad, and HEADPHONES! I should have just waited if that was the case, didn't get my yellow Lumia until the day before Thanksgiving anyway lol.

kcaneiro says:

You are correct with the one per household. I don't see why that should really matter - we bought two - we should get two headsets. One was in my wife's name - so I guess it could go through...

As long as you have it sent to another address... ;-)

dalydose says:

If these are really for the 8 pop up stores only, you'd think that they'd just hand out the headsets or initiate the order at point of purchase. At the very least you'd think that the redemption form would be given to them.

This seems like a backtrack to me.

I really do wish that the standard Nokia ear buds were in the AT&T packaging. My Samsung ones from Focus S, died a couple of weeks ago. I used them while driving/walking all the time.

AJR901 says:

Hold on, please clarify the "UPDATE". I purchased my Lumia 920 on November 22nd at an AT&T store. Do I qualify for the promotion or do I have to have purchased it from a Nokia pop-up store?

MadSci2 says:

Quitcherbitchin! My contract isn't up till Jan 1 so I won't get anything!
Besides, from what I have been reading, you cant get most of your music/podcasts on the phone till MSoft fixes XBox music anyway, so what is there to listen too?

Are we still going to wallow over a set of headphones that aren't any different than a $20 pair of skullcandy? Jajaja

splash112 says:

Looks like they are lol

dalydose says:

Does the $20 skullcandy control volume like my old cheapie Samsung (that came in the box with the phone)? If so, I might need to grab a pair, since my Samsung cheapies quite working.

U can't control volume, but u can play, pause, skip forward/backwards, etc...

First world problems. Lol got mine off contract with a free charger. Pretty damn happy with straight talk!

Talk about changing horses in the middle of the stream.   Just where are these 8 stores located.  I looks like a corporate error and I would think corporate would stand behind it.  Where is Elop on this issue.  Doug migh be looking for a new job over this.  them print the real text of the rules for the original promotion.

I couldn't find any Nokia Pop Up Stores when I checked on the internet.  Shows some in India.  Do you mean the Window's Pop Up Stores.

ho0lee0h says:

Nokia pop up stores? What? Why do they mention carrier retail stores in the rules?

razorhawk9 says:

Where are the pop-up locations?  I cannot find any information about them online

Tree Squid says:

Anyone want to trade their pair of headphones for my wireless charger?

tacofiend says:

Still nothing for Canada? Come on Nokia/Rogers/Microsoft, this is ridiculous. Everyone else in the freaking world is getting some free accessory.

Diemsea says:

Another restriction.Offer only available from select retailers. According to the web site, you must have purchased from one of the following retailers:

Since I bought my 920 from a Microsoft store I do not qualify for free headphones!!!!!

si49 says:

Anyone know if it is possible to get the wireless charger and headphones.  That might be worth the 100 extra miles round trip...

db4williams says:

Us Verizon customers always get shafted when it comes to cools deals like Nokia/AT&T offering free wireless charging plates and free headphones.

limkid says:

Sent the required info a few days ago. Did not see or notice the qualifying stores list at that time so I'm guessing they just put that up pretty recently. 8 stores only seems insane. Hopefully I get some kind of answer. If Nokia sent me the headset that would be sweet but seems doubtful. If not then atleast I was able to get the charging plate.

I received the same email 10 minutes ago, I can honestly see no logic in the store selection.
Purchased 920 on Nov 16th from ATT retail store.

Further disappointment from Nokia. Glad I wasted a stamp and time to participate.

I just thought I would post this here. This offer is defnitely only available to select stores. I bought mine at the MS store within the time range and submitted the paperwork. The following is the email I received from Nokia:

Ugh. The Verizon and Tmobile stores at my mall where I picked up my 920 two days ago are eligible but not AT&T? BLAST!

I too got a similar mail even though I met all conditions like store purchase and dates. I can't travel to one of these stores just for headset. Nokia is screwing up the consumers really big time here. I sent two mails back but haven't got a response. I am losing faith in nokia and am even thinking of returning the phone just for this ingenuinity in nokia's dealings with their customers. This is atrocious. They can't keep changing rule so radically and make the customer look stupid. Any legal course suggestion or consumer backlash plans out there? Count me in.

Too bad i have an HTC phone
