TVCatchup app available on the Windows Store

TV Catchup

TVCatchup is an invaluable tool (with support for UK channels) for any Windows user who watches television and finds themselves frequently checking catchup listings. The app, available for both Windows RT and Windows 8 devices, enables users to watch over 50 live national television channels with an interactive programme guide for details and times.

As a windows app, the developers have taken full advantage of the live tile functionality, which allows the pinning of individual channels to the start screen for direct access. With the interactive guide, TVCatchup delivers a rich experience with upcoming programmes displayed. The view supports snap view, as well as portrait orientation.

If programme management wasn't enough for power users; titles, synopsis, episodes, series categorisation, casts and credits are all displayed.

You can download TVCatchup from the Windows Store for free.

UK only I presume?

sholokov says:

I can't find it in the US store on my Surface.

Chad Chen says:

on your win8 device, go to control panel->region->location and change it to united kingdom, then seach the store again. you will find the app and can install it from there, which i just did. then you can change the location back its original value. no rebooting is required.

I read "Windows Phone Store" in the title, got excited and clicked, only to re-read "Windows Store" :(

The same... I hate it.

Jf.Vigor says:

Yeah is it UK only because for some reason I doubt this is US compatible. Sounds way 2 good to be true. Instant download if it's US

Try accessing it on a UK proxy server...

R0bR says:

Its not a proxy thing, in order to get UK specific apps your live account needs to be a UK account.

I don't want to be a dick, but I wish I could filter this type of news out of of the WP app. I'm still not sure why we get so much non-phone news... Afterall it's not "Windows Central" or "Microsoft Central"

ousooner314 says:

As Microsoft starts to unify the ecosystem, we can expect more such articles. To futher add ot it, such stories are also relevant to readers with multiple Windows devices.

Miistercoool says:

Maybe we should request for a future update to have a filter of what kind of news we want such as WP8 only or W8 only or all....I think it's a good idea...anyone agree?

Mobile Nations covers mobile devices, and the Windows RT Tablets are mobile devices. Just as the Android tablets are, and the iPad. It's all mobile :)

vincentw56 says:

Yes, but this is Windows Phone Central, not Windows RT Central. :)

Well...you need to take that one up with Mr Rubino then ;-)

schlubadub says:

Maybe if it was "Windows Mobile Central" haha ;) We also get Xbox news, which isn't mobile or Windows but it is Microsoft

alukard says:

He'll freaking yes. This is as big to is in UK as Hulu coming to Windows RT is to you americans. 50+ live tv channels to watch anywhere you like, and its always been a very good free service.

jabtano says:

Fantastic! Good stuff then

ihavewp8 says:

No use of app if I live in usa

swanny78 says:

Will there be a point where there is a single ms store and whatever is on windows store you can use on tablet and phone? Windows phone apps would get a welcome boost in sure.

I'm quite happy with the ecosystem type news as I would never have upgraded to windows 8 for only £25 nor would I have known about this app, which is actually very good indeed, if it had not been for wpcentral. Keep up the good work.

ut666 says:

pfff... checks windows phone store... reads article again... shakes fist at wpcentral =)

fraddy says:

Had I bought an Android phone instead of Lumia 800 I could easily download it tonight - you are certainly pushing be further towards Android, Micro$oft!

StaticPlaya says:

They are working on a windows phone 8 version.

PurpleOmen says:

I bloody hope so!! Its one thing i dislike about wp! Hint, make iplayer available!!!!!!!

Tahiti Bob says:

Did you get that info from them?

JohnMaye4 says:

This is a step in the right direction. Still waiting for skygo, iplayer and natwest banking.
