Dell Wrigley revealed in Dell 2011 Roadmap! [Exclusive]
A reliable tipster has just sent us Dell's roadmap for 2011 on both the tablet and smartphone fronts. While naturally Windows Phone doesn't make an appearance on the slate side of things (check out sister-site Android Central for that scoop), we do see plenty of awesomeness from Dell for Windows Phone.
To wit: the Dell Wrigley, due out in July 2011 with a 1GHz processor, a 4" WVGA screen, an 8 megapixel camera on the back capable of 720p video recording. What's more, the Wrigley is branded as "Windows Phone 7 Next Gen," which more than implies that a) a big Windows Phone update will come before then and b) the Wrigley will ship with it.
Additionally, we also see the "Dell Venue Pro MLK" (Windows Phone 7): Additional Features and enhancements" landing in mid-April. Near as well can tell, in Dell parlance MLK stands for "Medialess License Kit." Normally that would apply to, say, Microsoft office, but we have a hunch that in this case it applies to a software update - aka the very same software update that Microsoft has been touting all week here at Mobile World Congress.

The image shows WVGA as the resolution for the Wrigley, is that incorrect? Regardless, my experience with the Dell Venue Pro (even the supposed upgraded sd card fix) leads me to steer clear. Lets hope those that do buy one have a better experience all round.

Maybe the MS deal with Nokia will spur the others into action. Dell should at least match the specs for the Android phones and MS should add support for the tech. Based on this road map, MS looks to be at least a year behind in hardware innovation. They need to EXCEED Google to make a dent in the sales, otherwise they will continue just just do ok, which is not good enough.

Add hardware support for what? multi-core ARM chips? That should be in the OS already. Just because the base specs call for a 1Ghz snapdragon doesn't mean WP7 doesn't support dual or even quad core ARM chips already.

I saw an article on Macbooks and they showed a couple of desktop backgrounds...one was such a beautiful place, I HAVE to know where it is! But there was no caption for the image, so I have no idea! I think the problems are in the 16gb version as I haven't heard anything about the 8gb one. I have the 8gb pro and it's great. It is arguably the best looking phone out now. The only phone I would consider over it is the Samsung Focus because the screen quality is a step ahead of the pro. But the Pro design beats the focus IMO. As hardware go, I haven't noticed any problems.

To be really honest, The Venue Pro was a great looking device and it was one of the most unique phones I've seen..when it worked (although it was BIG at least when you pulled the slider). I have been using Dell notebook for a while now and they are a quality brand. I just can't seem to understand what the hell happened with the Pro.. Back when WP7 was launched in October I would have picked the Pro instead of HD7 and never pulled the slider =) But the thickness killed my deal.Overall, I'd give them a 2nd chance. Hardware is currently not WP7's ace.

They messed up big time.Compare the build quality of the Samsung Nexus S to that of the Samsung Focus, or that of the HTC Desire (or any other HTC Android) to the HD7, and you'll see that the WP7 phones were inferior in build quality. Whatever their reasons are, I think they just hurt their brands when they release half-decent hardware. I for instance will never buy another HTC device. When it comes to build quality, I think LG did the best job with the first batch of Windows Phone 7. I had a chance to play with an LG Optimus 7. That thing was rock solid -unlike my squeaky HD7! My next phone will be a Nokia.
