2012 Carl Zeiss Photo Contest: Nokia Lumia Windows Phones welcome

Nokia Lumia 920

The 2012 Carl Zeiss Photo Contest has taken an interesting twist this year. The contest is now open to photographers using any kind of Zeiss lens. Whether it's affixed to a rangefinder, SLR, DSLR or a smartphone fitted with a Carl Zeiss lens.

Yep, the Nokia Lumia Windows Phones, fitted with a Carl Zeiss lens, qualifies for the annual photo contest.

This year's contest theme is "the moment that knows no limit" and entries can be submitted at the official Carl Zeiss Lenses Group on Flickr. You'll need to tag your entries with the keyword "ZEISSContest2012" and the last day to enter is January 15, 2013.

2012 Carl Zeiss Photo Contest

The prizes?

  • 1st prize: The latest rangefinder (ZM) or SLR lens (ZE or ZF.2) of the winner’s choice as well as matching Carl Zeiss T UV filter (except for the Distagron T), Carl Zeiss Lens Cleaning Kit and Carl Zeiss Comfort Camera Strap
  • 2nd prize: Carl Zeiss cinemizer OLED, Carl Zeiss Lens Cleaning Kit and Carl Zeiss Comfort Camera Strap
  • 3rd prize: Sony DSC-RX100 camera an Carl Zeiss Lens Cleaning Kit
  • 4th prize: Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone
  • 5th prize: Logitech TV Cam, Carl Zeiss Comfort Camera Strap, Carl Zeiss knapsack, Carl Zeiss watch und Carl Zeiss umbrella
  • 6th – 10th prizes: Carl Zeiss camera carrying straps, Carl Zeiss knapsack, Carl Zeiss watch, Carl Zeiss umbrella and Carl Zeiss Lens Cleaning Kit

You can find all the fine print on the contest at the Zeiss Contest Website.

So? Do you think a Lumia 920 will be in the final grouping? Maybe the Lumia 900? It will be interesting to see how the Lumia Windows Phones hold their own in this contest.

With what 1st prize is worth, you could sell it and buy 4 Lumia 920s

I just read that Microsoft has fallen from first place in computing market share is this true?

Desktop / laptop? Far from mobile then yes

WinFan1 says:

Wow that article spelled gloom and doom for Microsoft their wording is soooo negative...... Personally speaking worst case scenario I'll go down with the effing ship because screw google and screw apple

NIST says:

It was another Microsoft bashing ZDNet piece where they included everything that connects to the internet. Lame, spun journalism.

WinFan1 says:

Man why can't people get in trouble for blatant slandering?

Ticomfreak says:

Strictly speaking, no. But if you add in smartphones and tablets, Microsoft has been behind for over a year now...

Will my Zeiss-equipped N8 work? It'll get me better pictures than this 710. And the 920 for that matter.

as I understand the rules, any camera with a Zeiss lens.  So the 808 would qualify

venom5150 says:

ZDNet... They are so anti Microsoft it isn't funny.

Entered one of my 920 photos! This one to be exact

All the free prizes sound good to me. Let me get my great n8 camera ready

Not sure how the Lumia is going to win anything with all the focus and white balance issues it has. :(
