Captain Pirate: A steady finger can lead you to buried treasure

Captain Pirate

Captain Pirate is an odd little game for your Windows Phone. Odd not so much in a bad way but remember the old board game Operation? Where you had to have a steady hand to extract game pieces (body parts of sorts) from a cartoon character? Touch the edge of the game board as you extract the game piece and you lose.

Captain Pirate reminds me of that game.... well, in a way.

With Captain Pirate, the goal is to maneuver a pirate's hook to buried treasure, avoiding dangers and collecting gold coins along the way. Touch/bump into any of the dangers and you lose a life. Lose three lives and the game's over.  Captain Pirate is a decent game for your Windows Phone but probably more appealing to the younger (much younger) crowd.

Game play with Captain Pirate is simple, just tap and hold on the hook and drag it to the treasure chest. The multi-level game gets more challenging as you progress through the levels and it will test your timing as well as your ability to steadily drag the hook around the screen.

Captain Pirate

Captain Pirate does have bonus items you can purchase with the gold you collect such as bombs to eliminate dangers, an ice cube to freeze the dangers or a skip level token.

The game also supports a two player mode that you play at the same time. This can get kinda cramped, even on the larger screened Windows Phone.

Graphics are decent with Captain Pirate and game play is oddly addictive. It's so simple, when you do hit a jelly fish or crab, you feel compelled to try again just to prove to yourself you can get to the treasure. Some may see Captain Pirate not much more than a children's game (especially when you hear the soundtrack).  And that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just that Captain Pirate may not appeal to everyone.

There is a free trial version available for Captain Pirate that lets you play enough of the game to get a feel for things. The full version is running $1.99 and you can find Captain Pirate here at the Windows Phone Store.

Am I the only one who find this title loaded with too many meanings? ;)

Nope, not at all. This headline sounds like advice for prom night.

Aldoron says:

Not as bad as the other app previously reviewed: Didlr.

It almost feels an intentional banter from George

Was going to say the same thing. No way I'd pay for an app that can't spell the name of itself right. Who knows what else is wrong in it.

and again - not available in some regions

Dear Artem,
The game will be available in Russia from next week, and Brazil later on.
Can you please tell your region?

Game does not work on my Titan II. It loads just fine, but gameplay is terrible. Horrendous stuttering and completely unplayable.

Dear Karel,
I saw your review on marketplace,
Can you please send me an email so we discuss/solve this issue?
Please mention in the email the following details: Version of the game (go to about, the version will appear next to the topic) + Where you find the issue + Version of your windows phone.
Kind regards,

Great game! Played it with the kids and they loved it, especially the multiple players mode!

Help me to find the treasure!
