Extreme Flight, a Barnstorming experience for your Windows Phone
Extreme Flight is an arcade styled game for your Windows Phone that brings Barnstorming to the small screen. With Extreme Flight you pilot a stunt plane through various obstacle courses. Obstacle courses full of hoops to fly through all the while avoiding dangers such as blimps, hot air balloons and other sundries.
Extreme Flight isn't the hardest game to pick up but it does take a sensitive touch to navigate your airplane safely through the obstacle course. It's a fun game for your Windows Phone and a decent way to pass short bits of time with.
The main menu for Extreme Flight has options to play the game, access the games' options (control layout and sound/vibration on or off), view your high scores (Scoreloop integrated) and view the About screen.
Extreme Flight itself has forty levels of game play spread across four playing zones. As with most multi-level games, they start out fairly easy and progressively get more challenging. When you begin play you have the option to choose your plane and customize it a little. There are five planes available with varying abilities that become unlocked as you advance through the game. Customizations include the color and decals of the plane.
The game screen has your vital statistics spread across the top of the screen that includes your lives, score, a pause and mute button and your current course time and the best time for that particular level.
Flight controls are simple with up/down controls on one side of the screen and a speed boost on the opposite side. To complete the course you have to fly through various mid-air hoops. Some hoops require you to fly through them in a particular direction (directional arrows flash above the hoop). If you're plane comes into contact with the hoop or any of the obstacles that are drifting about, the plane crashes and the pilot parachutes to safety.
The game has haptic feedback that vibrates your Windows Phone whenever you make a flight adjustment. This can be a little annoying and luckily you can turn this feature off in the options. Extreme Flight is nicely drawn up from the animations of flight to even the crash sequence. You really need to fly down the center of the hoops because it doesn't take much to send your plane crashing into the ground.
There are two versions of Extreme Flight available in the Windows Phone Store. You have Extreme Flight that is free and limited to the first few levels and Extreme Flight Premium, that is also free, and has access to all the levels.
