Lomogram, a fantastic photo app, passes one million downloads

Lomogram is a great photo editing app for your Windows Phone that just passed one million downloads. And it only took the app 219 days to get there.

The Windows Phone photography app gets good reviews over in the Windows Phone Store (4.5 stars) and we thought it was time to take a look at things and see what all the excitement was about.  Lomogram is nicely laid out with over forty filters, tons of borders and light effects that can be applied to new photos as well as photos already in your Pictures Hub.

Lomogram is a really nice option for those wanting to add a little zip to their photos and a great addition to you Windows Phone photography library.

Lomogram Main Pages

The main pages for Lomogram includes a Welcome Page where you can launch the camera app, pull up a photo from your Pictures Hub to edit, or view your pending shared photos. You also have a page for Lomogram's settings and an About page.

Settings cover language support, where to save the original photo, output image quality, and your sharing options. Lomogram has options to share photos via Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr and vk.

The edit page has a thumbnail image and your options spread across the bottom that includes tools to crop the image, apply an effect, add light filters and add a border. Choose your tool, choose your effect and it's applied to the thumbnail image.

Lomogram Edit Pages

All totaled Lomogram has:

  • Forty-two filters
  • Seventy-two lightening effects
  • Forty-nine borders
  • Crop, rotate and flip tools
  • Brightness, contrast, exposure and saturation tools (found from the three-dot menu in the adjust command)

In the upper right corner of the edit page you have two control buttons, one to apply a vignette filter and the other to go to the share options. Additionally, from the three dot menu on the edit page you can access save and share options as well.

The filters and lighting effects selections offers a healthy, wide range of effects to add that creative touch to your photos.  The cropping tool is preset with a variety of cropping sizes that can be applied to your photos.  You can move your photo around to fine tune the crop but it would have been nice to have seen a free-form cropping tool with Lomogram.

Lomogram is a simple, straightforward way to add a creative look to your photos and share them with your friends and family. While the million downloads is impressive, the developer reports that Lomogram has had more than eleven million sessions which breaks down to around 100-150K per day.

Lomogram is a popular Windows Phone photography app and we can see why.  In just spending the afternoon with Lomogram, we can see why it's so popular and would easily recommend it.  Lomogram is a free app the is available for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7.x devices. You can find Lomogram here in the Windows Phone Store.

That's a million reasons Instagram should get here. Like yesterday.

mjfadaway says:

I'm gonna have to agree with you

CJ Thunder says:

Why can't we have our own? Like Rooms but better promoted, like path but only for us? Just as a conversion and sales tool? I want WP to succeed too but how much does Instagram grow month over month?

chrgeorgeson says:

We can, but why can't we have the standard as well?

CJ Thunder says:

We can't have either apparently, no latest and greatest image ruining community or the current biggest. Youngsters odd things they like and I'm only 26.

There is, Fhotoroom is similar to instagram but has a way better app, and is exclusive to WindowsPhone

You must understand that "social networks" and "exclusive" are two words that hate each other.
adding to that, will you accept a facebook like social network, called lets say "fakebook" were you are the only one there, all the setting are weird, and all your friends are enjoying there time on facebook :D

Chill510 says:

Also agree....Instagram missing out on users which = money.

ChazTyldsley says:

Actually Instagram currently makes absolutely nothing, obviously it will soon enough. But for the time being it doesn't.

For what it's worth I think instagram is coming, I think this year we'll see alot of developers take the platform more seriously. The market share is certainly increasing, whilst not vast, it's leaving a decent dent (especially in Europe).

chriscookz says:

Yup, being purchased by Facebook didn't make them any money at all ;)

ZuNuKoo says:

Why. All I've seen is a bunch of teens taking pics of food and themselves. Pointless. Also we have Fhotoroom. Which is better.

I don't use or like Instagram but anyone who does (which is a huge amount of people) automatically crosses Windows phone off the list. The reason they won't switch is the same reason people hate and won't switch from Facebook. Their friends are already there and so are they. Why switch? The more apps like this crossed off the list of don't have, the better.

Question: is there a easy tutorial how to, with minimal adjustments, fix the sharpness of pictures on Lumia 920's Photolabb?

I can't believe this app is free...

xiontechinfo says:

Instagram should feel guilty now.

We need vine so I can see 6 seconds of porn in a timeline.

This app Is great

I'm more curious about that 3D printed avatar!

mikewp says:

Looks fun. Can't have my phone with me at work, so I really like hitting the online Microsoft store and downloading to my phone while I'm thinking about it.

RaRa85 says:

Yes I love this app.

Who cares about instagram? They had their chance like all others that refused to support Windows Phone. This should be a wake up call for the rest including Google.

Totally agree, it is good for people to consider windows phone, but independent devs are doing a fantastic job.

I don't care. I don't use instagram anymore. And I am happy with Bing. Too bad that fhotoroom has been removed from Indian Marketplace.

sdreamer says:

Just missing tilt shift.

Joshoon says:

This is a really good app, I've been using it for a while now!

chwcz says:

Great app. But why i always take three pics at a time?

Gemini Ace says:

One of my favorite apps and much better than instagram ever dreamed of being.

stevethenerd says:

...i think you meant "lighting effects"

david90531 says:

I don't know why I didn't get this before, guess I thought it was just another fail instagram replacement app but no this is probably even better than instagram and definitely has great potential!

Mac Morrison says:

Nice app, but the 3d printed xbox avatar is where its all at! :)

Is it better than Fhotoroom?

Laura Knotek says:

Thanks for posting this article. I don't know how I missed seeing this app. It's terrific. :)
