Mobile Nations fitness month week 2: Nutrition!

Leave a comment below telling us your Fitness Month goals and be entered to win a Withings Wireless Scale!

It's February and you know what that means? Mobile Nations Fitness Month! That's when we all get together to get in shape, share tips and tricks and recipes for success, review amazing apps and accessories, give away great prizes, and have a ton of fun! This year we're doing it a little differently, though. We're doing weekly themes, and that means every week you'll have new and exciting challenges, and new chances to win!

Week 2: Nutrition!

You know the old saying, you are what you eat? It's a cliche because it's true. Food is what gets us going and makes us run. Eating the right foods can improve the way we look and feel, how we handle stress and how we make it through the day. Food is our fuel, and we want to make sure we give our bodies and minds the best fuel possible.

As part of fitness month, we'll be reviewing a bunch of great apps and accessories that can help motivate, track, and train us to eat better and smarter. We'll also be doing THREE cool contests!

Eating Clean contest

First is our Eating Clean contest. Every day this week there'll be a thread in our health and fitness forums, and all you have to do to enter is tell us what you ate during the day. The idea is to get a little community pressure going so we all eat less junk food and more healthy, tasty meals and snacks. If you have a food tracker, a Withings scale, or any other device that helps you out, you can simply share your results each day!

This is a great way to keep us all motivated and accountable, and get a little healthy peer-pressure going! Plus, every day you enter is a chance to win a $20 gift certificate!

Nutrition MY Way contest

Second is our Nutrition MY Way contest. Just head on over to Nutrition MY Way thread in the forums and tell us how you use your mobile device, your phone or tablet, to eat healthier. What are your favorite apps? What are your go to accessories? We want to know! Tell it to us in the form of a story, like a blog post. We'll post the best entries on Friday, so get them in ASAP! Need more incentive? We'll pick one winner a week and send them a $100 gift certificate!

Comment to win contest

Last but certainly not least, leave a comment below telling us about your Mobile Nations Fitness Month goals and you'll be entered to win a Withings Wireless Scale! It's a great -- and super geeky! -- way to track your weight. You want to win this, so hurry up and leave a comment NOW!

Cutting Carbs and a food diary will help with this months goal of 8 more pounds lost in February 2013.. & 1 to 2 mile walk per day, no excuses !!!!!!!

My goal is to see my abs for the first time in a long time by this summer.  It's a long shot but we will see what happens. At a minimum I want to lose 20 lbs, closer to 40 long term.

My goals:
Consistently get to the gym 3x week.
Drop 5% BF in the next 2 months. I eventually want to be able to see my 6-pack abs again, and I know that for men, we need to get our BF to about 3-5%. Right now, I have a cooler instead of a 6-pack. ;-)
Right now, I am using MyFitnessPal to track my diet and ordered a Motorola Motoactv to keep track of my workouts. Wish they had a native WP app.

Been replacing 2 meals with juice in preparation for doing the Juice fast from "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead". Hoping to lose about 40# by early summer. Been using loseit.com for my tracking. Also trying to use the Kinect more ;)

I have been watching what I eat religiously while trying to work out as hard as I can. which means that somedays i do two a days and will have a rest day as a very last resort. I am trying to just toe the line for overtraining like I used to do when I wrestled in high school. that way I can ease off of the strict diet and enjoy my favorite foods more often, donuts and frozen pizza! that is my true goal to get back to where I can have donuts and frozen pizza without feeling terrible. I also want to be able to tackle any NYC stair case without becoming winded at the top. This is a big order since I do suffer from exercise induced asthma but with enough training I think I can do it. I am looking at you E stop at 51st street station and the F station at 63rd St. But really it is all about the eating of donuts and frozen pizza guilt free, I cant tell a lie.

I'm cutting back on my food portions and walking more on a daily basis. My goal is to drop weight slow and steady.

My goal is to exercise more regularly and eat and drink better. I am trying to mountain bike more, but it's been raining so much in the last few days. I'm also trying to drink more water, as well as eat healthier foods.

Awesome to see everyone trying to improve their level of exercise and physical fitness. Best of luck to all of you and once you get started and see results, you won't be able to stop.

My goal this year has been to get physically fit, and lose the last bit of weight! :) I've been *trying* my best to eat healthier, and whenever my studies aren't super intense, I go to the gym! I love using Nike+ when I run because it tracks my run times and fastest mile/km! And it encourages me to keep going by telling me when I am half way through my run, or when I'm almost there! Or it congratulates me when I have gone on my longest run ever! :D
Also february is Heart awareness month, and eating healthy and exercising regularily is a great way to keep your much needed heart happy and healthy! :)

My goal this year has been to stop eating food with added sugar or yeast.  Also to avoid process foods.  This takes out a lot of food options, but leads to a clean diet.  I have already lost 10 lbs.
I am also working out and plan to download the 6 week training app, since that workout is already similar to what I do, and will help to keep me motivated.

Im also trying to just monitor everything I eat and stop eating when I feel full.
It really helps me enjoy my food as well.
