HTC European boss Florian Seiche reportedly jumping ship to Nokia

Florian Seiche

EMEA President at HTC, Florian Seiche is reported to be joining Nokia as head of European sales from June 15th, according to Bloomberg. Seiche has been at HTC since 2005, prior to which he held the role of Director of Devices at Orange. The Bloomberg report suggests that Nokia's own EMEA head Shiv Shivakumar is leaving the company and will be replaced by the VP of smart devices for the Americas, Arto Nummela.

While Nokia has recently returned to profitability, both the Finnish company and HTC are still in the midst of rather difficult times. The mobile phone market is a competitive one, which Samsung and Apple are governing comfortably. What Seiche bring to the table for Nokia is yet to be seen, but since Nokia has already kicked off a strong push in Europe with Windows Phone, we'll look forward to more of the same.

Rest in peace, HTChrist.

Anyways, welcome to our Nokia family, you've made the right choice!

It's slang for "boss", honest :-)

Yes after we assimilate htc next is the world!!

Mass effect?

Actually I think he was referring to the Borg, of Star Trek fame.

tbonenga says:

Uh if he failed at HTC why would Nokia want him?

I think HTC has done ok in Europe, but if it hasn't.... My thoughts exactly:)

Perhaps he realizes HTC is a sinking ship and wants to move to a growing company? Idyll speculation on my part. Nokia did have a lot of supply issues in EAFE.

Zeeshan360 says:

Lol man .. HTC sinking ship ??
This is just a routine corporate shake up .. Nokia's own EMEA head Shivakumar left Nokia

Yes, sinking, profits are sinking, revenues decreasing,  heavy competition in Android with LG, Sony, and Samsung, HTC has a lot riding on the One to be a success. Yes, I don't know why Shivakumar left. But why hire someone working for a competitor, no one else at Nokia capable? This is strategic.

Nokia has never really been able to get back into high street retail after they closed doen wtheir own shops some years ago. HTV has had better success doing so. Bringing this guy in might just be a good move to gain more traction with local retail..

Zeeshan360 says:

In India , we have Nokia Priority dealers operated by franchisee model
It is as good as Nokia's own retail stores

The guy is good if you want exposure and sales in Germany. HTC will probably get another German to replace him.

rockstarzzz says:

If this guy joins Nokia and the sales go down..

Credo93 says:

Let's see if he is good at Marketing, hope so ....
Greets Credo

I haven't seen much Nokia presence in the US market, so I doubt he can do any worse.
