Nokia updates Ringtone Maker for Windows Phone 8 with extended ringtone length

Ringtone Maker

Nokia has pushed out an update for all Ringtone Maker users. The Nokia exclusive app, which can be found in the Nokia Collection, enables the creation of ringtones from music files stored locally on the Windows Phone 8 device. While Xbox Music tracks are not supported (unless purchased), it's a great little app to create some fresh new tunes.

Version 1.2.6.11 appears to extend the duration limit to 60 seconds, matching what was introduced in the beta version. We can't tell if anything else is added, so be sure to shout out in the comments should you notice anything else that's new. You can download Ringtone Maker from the Nokia Collection on the Windows Phone Store. Windows Phone 7.x version is still stuck on older release.

A few popular apps aside, this is the ONE thing I can't believe WP doesn't have yet. I'm so sick of the stock txt notifications.

What's the difference between this one and Ringtone Maker beta?? I have the beta installed and it supports 60 second ringtones already.

Rich Edmonds says:

It's a beta, where as this is the live version.

sarim_xyz says:

Both are functionally same I guess.

sholokov says:

Both now installed as Beta.

pvcleave says:

It still has problems recocgnizing my MP3's or WMA(DRM Free). It seems each release changes whether something is able to be used. I just tried this release and it still will find anyof my music. There was one release that did see some of my music.

jkernus says:

I've always had this same problem with all versions, not recognizing existing unprotected mp3/wma's. Very frustrating. At least I'm not alone (sorry pvcleave)

Thought you did this story last week?? I'm sure it was recently.

duEprocEss says:

Right. That was for the beta version and this one is for the live version.

icon still says beta

and still have to turn off xbox cloud collection before it will see any music at all.

need support for more file formats like m4a .. since most of my music is downloaded from iTunes store!! :'(

What good is a 60 second ringtone when voicemail picks way before that? Is there something I'm missing here?

Burasuteru says:

Some people who don't have voicemail that can listen to the ringtone for all eternity if they do wish to do so. I know people that I can call for over 2 minutes and no voicemail request will appear.

Zeeshan360 says:

Here in India , hardly anyone uses voicemail

marcomura says:

Here in Italy, we don't use voicemail either

ho0lee0h says:

I wish they let us compose old school ringtones like on the old school Nokia phones.

Nategreat says:

I've had a WP8 since january and if I didn't know any better I'd think that Nokia was the ONLY WP8 device.  Kind of sucks being a HTC owner since they don't seem to be doing anything for WP.
I see article after article of great support but none of it for anything but a Nokia. Frustrating.

ngc891 says:

'Extended length'... Hahaha!

dreonedon says:

We need fuckin message tones its the modern times and a little thing like having a message tone is missing wtf come on Nokia step your fat ass up.

Zeeshan360 says:

That's Microsoft's problem not Nokia :(

Danimalman says:

Ok where is the ringtone library and where do I assign to phone numbers of my contacts

zahrans says:
