Kill bugs and mosquitoes in Sok and Sao's Adventure for Windows Phone

11

When there's a bug crawling near you, do you freak out? Sok and Sao act the complete opposite. They shoot water, fire, crystals, poison, lightning, and even grenades towards them. It's for a good reason, though. Sok and Sao are out to save the world from Dengue fever by destroying Aedes mosquitoes, the primarily transmitter of the Dengue virus. Sok and Sao's Adventure is available first on Windows Phone, and is heading to the iPhone and Android devices soon.

Benji Bananas Adventures - the sequel - swings on to Windows Phone for free

20

Last year, a fun game dubbed Benji Bananas arrived on Windows Phone, coming a few months later than the iOS and Android version. Rinse and repeat for Benji Bananas Adventures, a sequel to the popular banana swinger game, which came out earlier this month.

Benji Bananas and its sequel are those types of games that often slip under the radar. They do not garner many headlines, but they tend to have millions of fans who enjoy the simple vine-swinging mechanics found in the game. Indeed, the sequel builds off the original but keeps the majority of the same style. The graphics are smooth, and the gameplay is short, letting users get some quick action without much time commitment.

National Transportation Safety Board calls for U.S. ban on distracted driving

228

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, or NTSB, is advocating the elimination of distractions while in a transportation vehicle. Citing disasters, sometimes fatal, that could have been avoided if the operator of their transport vehicle, whether that's a car, boat, plane, or train, was focused on the task at hand rather than distractions caused by the use of personal electronic devices (PEDs) in the cabin, the NTSB is calling for a nationwide ban on the use of non-essential electronic devices while driving.

Here is how to report dangerous or malicious apps to the Windows Phone Store

83

Microsoft, like most companies who run an app store, on occasion has problems with fake or malicious apps. You know, the ones that purport to be official, but charge you money upfront without a trial, something even more egregious for already free services.

I have seen a lot of teeth gnashing over this and lots of "look at THIS example!" posts. Even Microsoft has recently chimed in to say they are going to be doing more. But you play a role too.

Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2 features purportedly detailed (Updated)

450

Update 12 PM ET - WPWorld.pl has now retracted the story, claiming the source is not reliable or a Microsoft employee.

According to a report over on wpworld.pl, Microsoft's Cortana is coming to Poland. Microsoft clearly plans to bring (and further develop) the virtual assistant to other markets, but time will tell just when the feature is rolled out across multiple regions.

As well as Cortana allegedly for Poland, there are also some supposed details on Windows Phone Update 2, including a release date for those on the Preview program.

17 Reasons to Buy a case for your HTC One (M8) for Windows

96

My 17 reasons to buy a case for the HTC One (M8) for Windows Phone in reality boils down to ONE BIG reason - it's a slippery phone! In addition to the hardware being beautiful in all its metal-given glory, it is also easy to drop. And drop my HTC One M8 I did... I accidentally dropped mine SEVENTEEN TIMES in the past four months. What follows is an account of how it held up over that time and of eventually what busted. The TL;DR? You will probably want to buy a case for it.

Beaver Kickin, a Windows Phone game where you battle aliens and gravity

22

Beaver Kickin' is an endless runner styled Windows Phone game where you are tasked with kicking a beaver and have him sail as far as possible before giving into gravity.

Each chapter of the game has a story line that is nicely illustrated with a comic book feature. For example, with the first chapter has aliens dumping a cosmic seed into the forest creating crazy mutations. It's the beaver's job to soar through the forest taking down the mutations and saving the day.

Story line aside, Beaver Kickin' has great graphics, challenging game play and is available for low-memory devices. In playing the game for a short time, Beaver Kickin' comes across as a fun time waster of a game.
