You might not know this, but before I was 110% Windows Phone I had a thing for Blackberry. Specifically the Curve 8320. That’s because it had one feature in a smartphone that I absolutely needed back then – Wi-Fi calling. If you’re a Windows Phone fan and hoping to get a phone with Wi-Fi calling you might want to check out the Nokia Lumia 521.

While we still don’t have an official Fitbit app for Windows Phone, developers have made quite a few unofficial ones for the popular fitness tracker with varying degrees of success. Now Shane Chism has made his own because frankly, he wanted a fully optimized one for Windows Phone 8, including HD graphics.

Fitbit Tracker is just that app and it’s now available as a public beta. That means you can download it now and give Shane feedback on things you would want to see implemented for the final release.

Six months ago the Nokia Lumia 920 launched as an exclusive on AT&T here in the United States. A lot of users on Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile felt a little shafted not having access to the high end Windows Phone from Nokia. Well if you happen to have a Lumia 920 from AT&T in your possession you should be able to unlock the device now.

I rarely get giddy for games but Death Worm is one of those that has literally garnered millions of downloads on iOS and Android. And now thanks to the power of Windows Phone 8, it is finally here for us to play. Sure, we’re totally years behind but there are reasons why we’re seeing these titles coming to our platform now: ease of porting, potential to make money.

So what is Death Worm? It’s made by PlayCreek and it originally came out in 2010. Since then it’s gone to become one of the most popular arcade style games around. In essence, you’re a big fat killer worm that hides underground, occasionally busting out to eat people, elephants, camels, bust up tanks and take down helicopters. And that’s just Level 1!

The Nokia Lumia 521 continues to spread across the country. After a quick and successful start on Walmart's and Home Shopping Network's websites, the Lumia 521 will be coming to Walmart brick and mortar stores this Saturday, May 11, for a measly $129. The Microsoft Store will also start selling it this weekend.

Less than two weeks after that, on May 22, the Lumia 521 will start appearing on shelves at T-Mobile stores and on their website for less than $150 with qualifying plans.

Point and Call is a Windows Phone 8 app that uses your camera to read and dial phone numbers. Point and Call can come in handy for scanning numbers off business cards, print advertisements, or even computer screens.

Numbers that are scanned can be dialed from within the app or saved to your contacts. It's a nifty concept to make dialing and saving all the phone numbers you run across.

Huawei is throwing their hat into the US Windows Phone 8 market with their W1 smartphone, known in other parts of the world as the Ascend W1. The snazzy W1 will be coming to Walmarts across the country as a pre-paid, no-contract offering that will be priced "competitively," though no exact numbers were revealed.

Huawei’s Michael Chuang said in a statement. “The Huawei W1 brings consumers a truly compelling alternative to what’s currently in the marketplace."

You’ve heard us go on before about Beem Plus, the dedicated Digitally Imported music streaming client and its new brother, Beem for SKY.FM. The apps are polished, well designed and deliver top quality music to your Windows Phone. Indeed, behind Pandora, Beem Plus is our most used music app (set it on Trance and hop on an elliptical for 40 minutes…it’s a good time).

Both apps usually fetch for a minuscule and well-worth-it $0.99 but the developer behind them, Den Delimarsky, is feeling generous as he’s dropped the price down to $0. And remember folks, once you “buy” an app for free, it’s yours forever.
