Dance Central 3’s SmartGlass companion app gets detailed

DC3 that Usher?

We’re not big Dance Central fans around these parts but it’s kind of neat to see how the new game, launching tomorrow, will take advantage of Microsoft’s SmartGlass coming to the Xbox 360.

The companion app, which will launch on iOS, Windows Phone and Android (in addition to tablets) will augment the dance experience by letting users control the music playlist and difficulty settings when in “Party Time” mode. When dancing the night away and being forever alone, you can use the app to keep track of calories burned and a challenge tracker to help keep track of your progress during sessions.

Forever Alone mode

Although the main game for Dance Central 3 comes out tomorrow, the companion SmartGlass app won’t be out until the end of the month, presumably when Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 officially launches. Although this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to SmartGlass apps for the Xbox 360, we’re excited to see what developers come up with next.

As long as people are learning how to dance, they won't be forever alone for long.

I think MS should've release this on WP before releasing for iOS and/or Android. Make 'em wait.

Z10YkakPES says:

Look at this from another prospective, they get it they like it they might look at WP8 after.

Royalmage says:

Why would they look at WP8 if the already have the functionality on their phone? that simply does not make sense. "O hey I have an orange, let me trade it for your orange that is exactly the same" (I wanted to say apple but you know that wont work here). In order to attract people from other ecosystems MS would have to either release less features in the iOS/Android devices or none at all (but sense they have already commited to putting the App on the other platforms then Im hoping for the first option)

WP7WasMyIdea says:

Good point. Or charge users from other platforms. Maybe they wont change over but you can still make some money off of them.

xmarklive says:

One question will this be for WP 7 or will us 7 people get left out .
