DEAL ALERT: Unlocked Expansys Nokia Lumia 520 for $199

Expansys is offering an unlocked version of the Nokia Lumia 520 for just $199. It ships out within 4 days of order and for no cost to the US. Despite the lead picture above, it looks like Expansys only has the Lumia 520 in cyan, so don't get your hopes up.

Nokia's Lumia 520 is an economy Windows Phone 8 handset, featuring a 4 inch IPS LCD display with Super Sensitive Touch. It's also got a 1GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 512MB RAM and 8GB of internal storage that you can expand with a microSD card. For more specs you can check our hands on of the device right here.

Why would you not just buy the Lumia 521 for $50 cheaper?

Someone might want an unlocked phone...I haven't heard of much success with unlocking the 521.  Many services were asking ~$40 to unlock anyways, so you're almost at the same price if you go that route.

damielrohie says:

but you could just buy the 620 already unlocked for 50 bucks more, and it is arguably a better budget phone.

EBynum says:

Yeah, I just ordered an unbranded, unlocked Lumia 620 (a green one!) from eBay seller cti_nyc for $228.95. To me that seems like the better deal. If anyone is interested, cti_nyc also has a web site: http://www.ctinyc.com/.

Because some people use AT&T

clbarker10 says:

Every Lumia with a 20 at the end is for AT&T

Dancsi31 says:

810 is with T-Mobile, gotcha! Your theory is not good.

clbarker10 says:

Sorry I meant "20" at the end

Visual360 says:

I wish I could just get the 521 and have it unlocked for ATT.

myrandex says:

Eh I would sign a contract and pick up the 920 for free for ATT. Especially with the beast of a camera it contains.

Jamdot says:

Right you'd sign a contract and pay more than $199 in 4 months. Don't make such a stupid comparison.

Visual360 says:

I know what you're saying. I got my 920 from day one :)
Just want the 521 to play around with.

sarim_xyz says:

It costs INR 10097 (~$179) here in India, unlocked.

nikhilr51 says:

Yeah it costs AUD 149 (~$149) here in Australia, unlocked from any physical shop.
There are 2 versions avaliable here though: the RM-914 and RM-915 (each support different frequencies)

Caltech13 says:

Seth, just wanted to let you know, I was looking over the site and they offer the Red, Cyan and Yellow version of the 520.
Very tempted to snag one to replace my HTC Radar for now!
