Dell Venue Pro on offer from $.99 on T-Mobile or $299 unlocked

Dell Venue Pro

The Venue Pro, Dell's poor first generation Windows Phone, has found itself in trouble being plagued by issues (as well as lagging behind OS updates), been at the front of some good deals, and is tagged as Dell's only contribution to the platform for the foreseeable future. Should you be after the handset which sports a 4.1" AMOLED display, 1Ghz processor, 5MP camera, and a vertical slide-out QWERTY keyboard, you can pick one up for $299 unlocked. If contracts are more your scene, T-Mobile is offering the Venue Pro on a two-year plan for just $.99, not bad.

While it's a solid deal for a Windows Phone that runs Mango smoothly, do note that there's no tethering and the compass is out of service. Be sure to check out our review for more information, and head on over to the source below to take advantage of the deals.

Source: Dell, thanks Kyle for the heads up!

Somebody help me here ... what would be the benefit of unlocked in the U.S.? You pay more up front than you'll ever pay for ETF. AT&T will add a data plan automatically once you get on their network with a smartphone. So for a 'regular' user who wants service, and may change carriers once in a while, what makes unlocked preferable?

I think it is useful for people who are stuck on contract. Especially here in Canada where we have 3 year contracts almost exclusively. If you are in the middle of a contract with AT&T and want a new phone buying unlocked is important.

This is for the 8GB model, the 16GB is 49.99 plus the contract.  didnt even want to take a look at the unlocked price of the 16GB.  I was thinking of replacing my HD7 with this but doesnt seem worth it.

I can't tell you how sexy this device is once you hold it in your hand. No matter how i get accustomed to use the virtual keyboard, i hate using it. It doesn't provide you a sense of accuracy when typing it compare to using a physical keyboard. If you don't even use the physical keyboard, it's still a great solid device. And best of all, it feels really nice in your hands, by the way the device is curved.

I wouldn't call the device I've used for a year now a poor device. Granted my first DVP  was locking up but my replacement device has no issues at all. I love my DVP!!!!!

I have to agree with ya there.  The phone did have a rough launch but the problmes where were actually few were ironed out.  I got my Venue Pro Dec 24 last year and since the firmware update this has been 100% flawless in its operation.

I bought my 16g last month for $269.00 using a 10% coupon that I googled, so far it's been great no complaints but complements from other people instead.Love Love and Love the keyboard.

Great device, just bad execution from Dell.

They have refurb 16GB for $180. It's a better deal. Has a 1 year warranty, just like new.

Thank you for saying "Source: Dellthanks Kyle for the heads up!"
I'm glad you listen to my news tips.

It"s really a matter of me chickening out of buying one due to not being able to play with one and worrying Dell would not support it as well, especially with no T-Mobile available in my area and the AT&T model such an afterthought to them.  Because this is my dream form factor.  4.1" screen?  Portrait slider? Windows Phone?  Just a perfect combination that will hardly ever come down the road.  I love my Focus S, but I do miss a physical keyboard, and out of the half dozen or so phones I owned, the 2 that I enjoyed the most (Motorola Karma, Palm Pre) were portrait sliders.  Truly happy for those the DVP has worked out for.  I am just a tad envious ...
