Destiny launch trailer shows lots of action for the upcoming shooter

destiny

Developer Bungie and publisher Activision have unveiled the final launch trailer for Destiny, the long awaited next game from the team responsible for the Halo franchise, well ahead of the game's September 9 launch date for Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles, along with the PlayStation 3 and 4 from Sony.

If you haven't been keeping up with the development of Destiny since it was first announced a couple of years ago, this final launch trailer won't help much in terms of understanding the storyline, which centers on the player character fighting to help reclaim the Earth's solar system after an alien invasion that happened a long time before the game begins. However, there is a ton of shooting, flying vehicles and very angry aliens in this clip, along with lots of pre-release quotes praising the game from various media outlets.

Bungie and Activision offered a $149.99 limited "Ghost" edition of Destiny, but that version has sold out, with units now going for hundreds of dollars more on eBay. Will you be picking up Destiny when it first comes out and if so do you think it will be as good as the team's Halo games?

Me too! I played the Beta, didn't expect much as I don't FPS muc these days. But wow, really got me hooked.

I uploaded an action clip, as close up the detail on the mobs is intricate. Crazy AI. I've had some "likes" on my video, which is weird as I consider myself too old for "likes" :) But its a really well thought out framework. I loved cheevo collecting :)

Exactly. I understand why there are exclusives such as Mario and Uncharted, but when a title is already multi-platform, there is no need to cut out the PC, especially considering it has the ability to offer the best experience as far as graphics, frame rate and control.

And that's ur problem too much control, u say PC look how many models u have, how many drivers, graphic cards, there is no one size fits all, its in the users hands, which can be a problem a lot of times

But things like a driver or too will cause crashes and incompatible, I've had this problem despite minimum requirements

Minimum requirements is not an exhaustive list, it can't cover all sorts of combinations of hardware. It is meant for guidance only and plus it is up to the hardware maker to offer updated drivers not the game developer.

Exactly my point with consoles that not an issue, as a game developer even though its not ur job, it still affects your game and consumer only sees that, look at watch dogs and how mixed the PC reviews compared to console especially when it leaked early put a sour taste in some mouths

Well with consoles, the hardware is fixed so you don't have that issue. The issue in consoles can arise due to the SOC used and how optimized the game is for that particular console.

True, the average Joe will vent their frustrations at the game developers. As devs are the only outlet and a face they can appoint the blame too.

I meant control as far as mouse and keyboard. Obviously not everyone who plays on PC will have the optimum experience, but many PC gamers purchase the hardware they want or can afford and know more or less what they can expect out of a game. And, the developers most likely already have higher polygon models and higher resolution textures, etc. Which they have to tone down to run on console anyway.

Played the beta, distinctly underwhelmed. More grinding mmo than a skillful shooter like halo was. No longer interested.

The reviews will be written in a way meant to sell you the game. It's how CoD gets 8-9+ every year and the real gems get 6-7.. And of course many user reviews are actually fanboys dissing the opposite platform and their games.

Not surprising considering the FPS offerings on PS4 so far have been absolute rubbish, so this game is probably Christmas in a can for you neglected folk. For Xbox One owners, on the other hand, the underwhelming Destiny beta just reiterated how lucky we were to have Titanfall already and Halo coming. Destiny was not as good as either so I'll pass on it. Compared to Killzone, though, that totally makes sense.

So many burns in one comment.. Love it. I was sold on Destiny but I'll skip it. Game will only release with 4 worlds of which two I have already explored to an extent.. And I just picked up Diablo 3 to play with friends. Destiny is still on my radar but just not as hyped as before.. I'll let them iron out all the issues first and release some more content. While playing Titanfall, Horizon 2 and Diablo, woohoo

Gorgeous looking game but the beta didn't really bowl me over. Still be getting it though.
Because its bungie they really pay attention to detail in their games

Bungie is becoming more like Activision. Looks like like all the good that Bungie had, stayed behind and formed 343i to stay with Halo. The rest is just whatever and the way they treated Martin O'Donnell after they fired him is ridiculous.

Hmmm...

Musicians are a weird bunch. Talented as he is, there's more to that story than is being let on...

I like the expansion pass because it seems like a solid offering. Do you think the map pack released atop the h4 season pass was good? If yes, you must be insane...

O'Donnell had shares in Bungie and they wanted to rim him off them for no reason. Which they did, and now there's a court case going on which says he must be given his shares back or something like that. To answer your question, no, season pass should include everything inside. But we know from the start that it would be 3 map packs and anything on top of that would just not be season pass material.

Ghost edition will be waiting for me. It'll be awesome to finally play the final game, and the extras will be an awesome addition to my collection of game related stuff :D

That good SIr is a massive, 61-word, run-on sentence done right.
