"Extras!" companion app for "I'm a WP7!" goes the extra mile

We know a lot of you folks enjoy your "I'm a WP7!". The free Windows Phone enthusiast app has had constant updates not for bug fixes but for new features nearly every few weeks. The developer, Liquid Daffodil has done a knock out job with the program by developing one of the most unique and dedicated communities around (well, except for our forums, ahem!). He's done all of this, remarkably, for free as that app doesn't even have ads in it--just straight gorgeous content.

Now, he's released a companion app called appropriately "I'm a WP7 Extras!" which brings a lot of advanced features that many users have been demanding. Of course, there is a price for those "premium" items which is $2.99. While some may balk at such a price, many users are more than pleased as the app sits with 5 out of 5 stars in the Marketplace right now. So, what do you get for the cost of a cup of coffee?

  • Change your Hive! (Actually “Swap” Hives with another user!
  • Use an image or photo as your Profile Pic!
  • Get access to ALL the Today’s Picks and Category Wallpapers for your own use!
  • Unlock the full Forums, GamerHub™, and all the Extras and other cool features of ...i’m a WP7!

In other words, some pretty cool features that make the main app and experience much better. Sure, not everyone needs all of those additional items and luckily for us the main app "I'm a WP7!" is still free and was just recently updated to version 3.9. But for those who want those bonus items, well, we have to give a thumbs up to "Extras!". Plus, if you use the main app, this is a great way to show the dev some appreciation for him keeping it free and ad-free.

Pick up "Extras!" here in the Marketplace for $2.99 and give the main app, "I'm a WP7!" a spin for free right here. We'll also see about doing a new review for the both of them later this week.

When I wanted some information on this application they were back in touch within minutes great team

You pay $2.99 for a cup of coffee? That better be the best coffee ever, or a really huge cup!

NH3MAN says:

Uhmm, not to be rude but have you been to Starbucks lately :-)

gh8421 says:

You obviously don't live in Australia.... We pay ~$3.30 for a small coffee with no garuntee that it is any good, although you do get the sugar for free...

To clarify, I live/work in NYC-metro--a toll for the bridge is $6.50 here, so yeah, coffee can be expensive.  You should see the tiny apartment $1k a month gets you, it's a gorgeous room ;-)

LD is the best developer out in the marketplace. Period!

Extras! does an excellent job of extending the ...i'mawp7! experience in a fun way.  I'd say that being able to personalize a social app is at LEAST worth a cup of coffee.

I loved ...I'm a WP7.  However, asking me to pay $2.99 for features I had for free is silly.  We had access to all wallpapers and ringtones before.  If you want to provide a companion app offer new features.  Don't take away existing features.

TerryCornell says:

New features a'plenty in Extras!  For instance, a fair number of Users have employed Extras! to immortalize their cats as custom icons for the main app.  {Good stuff!}!

Codesmith says:

@SeaGoat, we aren't taking away any features for any existing users, in fact were adding more free stuff every version. It may be that you had an old version or hadn't "participated" by earning badges, if that's the case make sure you're in v3.9 and shoot us a quick email and well make sure yoyre all set for everything you've always enjoyed in the app. You'll find we have the most responsive support in the Marketplace :)

SeaGoat67 says:

I am using version 3.9.  I'm going to blame it on the solar activity because when I checked a few minutes ago the wallpapers and ringtones were all there.  I haven't participated much but always check the wallpaper and ringtones.  I will absolutely "participate" more now.  Thanks for the reply.

Extras is a great addition to I'm a WP7. The original free app is lots of fun. It's the one app I use more than once a day.

Kasmera says:

Extras is a great app, and a nice addition to I'm a WP7.  LD is a great developer, who from what I have seen so far, listens and responds to users suggestions.
Customer support is outstanding.  Any query you have either sent via email or posted on the forums is responded to really quickly.
Well worth the price of a cup of coffee!!  And I am looking forward to all future updates ;)

What started off as the developer's way to connect with other WP7 users has evolved into a one of a kind app. The fact that for more than a year it was free (and NO ads) was astonishing. Purchasing …I’m a WP7 Extras! is one way to support his work. Can’t wait to read your updated reviews so more WP users can see what his apps have to offer for the community. {join the movement!}

I totally agree with Scooter. This is a great way to support a developer who produces a great app and provides it for free and enables him to keep doing it.

I have asked the developers questions on two occasions. I received thoughtful, articulate answers within 10-20 minutes. ATT should hire whomever is responsible for their customer service.

I did not hesitate to purchase the Extras app. Not only is it a great addition to the always-will-be free ...i'm a WP7, but it offered a great opportunity to support a great independent developer. I am also impressed with Save To Contacts, and bought it without hesitation, and am looking forward to what is to come from Liquid Daffodil. (Hint: Is anyone else frustrated with their current Twitter client?)

Oops. The app is named "Add To Contacts".
Try it. It fills a void in the OS that MS missed this past update.

JD Miles says:

could not agree more every one needs to check out the "ADD TO CONTACTS",
it is as you point out what a core app should be for every WP7.

jabtano says:

You know seeing how the main app has been free and no issues great content always being updated $2.99 is nothing... sold....I'm in because I'm a WP7 user.
