Facebook for Windows Phone hits v2.0, gets push notifications!
Yup. Today is a huge day for Windows Phone indeed and, to top it off, the official Facebook app just hit 2.0 and finally (finally!) brings Push Notifications (Toast + Live Tile) to the game.
What's really great is just how much you can choose to be notified on: Message, Wall Post, Feed comment, Feed comment reply, Photo tag, Photo comment, Tagged photo comment, Photo comment reply...etc, etc. All of those are optional for notifications, which gives you the user some great control over how the app works.
Overall, the app feels smooth and now, dare we say, is complete? Go get it here in the Marketplace. (Thanks, @wp7ap, for the heads up!)

Ive been testing it and still havent gotten the push to work by posting on my wall with another fb account...Just tested every option in the "push notification" settings in the updated app and none of the push worked after 10 minutes. We're so close yet so far.

Notifications or live tiles do not work for me either. I contacted support and sent my log file, and they said the notifications weren't turned on, as indicated by my log files even though they were turnd on in the app. Facebook app fail!

Mine works perfectly, I set a friend to post me something. I got push while locked and the title gets a red 1. Sadly when you push the notification it just opens the app, it doesn't send you directly to the situation at hand.

Not really working for me either, but that may be due to poor 3G signal where I am.Based on what we've seen Daniel post in the past, Push notification reliability should be dramatically improved with Mango (I know I'm waiting for Mango to upgrade WPCentral's tile to a push system)

This is the only app that push fails to work for me, I have a good 3G signal at almost all times aswell.

Push and toast work perfectly for me. Also, when you get a notification and open the app, just slide to the left and it will bring you to Notifications so you can see what just came through your phone.

As exciting as push notifications are they're working about as frequently as the iOS and Android versions. Meaning hit or miss. Still, great to see the Marketplace picking up steam!

Go to marketplace, search for it. It wont show up. Exit and go back and search again - it will show the update button. I have Mango.

I'm actually more excited about the fact that you can use a landscape keyboard in it now.. before facebook was one of the only apps on the WP7 platform NOT to let you type in landscape...

Good catch! It only works on status updates (not comments) but it's better than not having landscape support at all.

I have enabled Push notifications for everything.... even pinned the tile onto home screen.. didnt recieve a single notification until now.. hope it will work next year?? (i dont want to be skeptical..but MS always leaves no choice :( )

As a developer i'm always shocked at how clueless other developers can be. I keep seeing the word "Toast" being used. Sorry but if you're not a wp7 developer, read a tech blog, or have asked someone who already knew; then you'd have no clue what Toast means. If you're doing a Toast Message why not say TopMessage or something anyone that's is not a dev would know

mine haven't worked yet. hopefully it rolls around soon. this is the only thing that I hated not having. When I converted my wife over from WebOS, I knew she would make a stink about it, but 3 weeks later it's here. now I don't have to rely on email sent to me and filling up my email client.

Push notifications & live tiles aka delay tiles suck on wp7, it is by far its major flaw, they put so much stake in live tiles being amazing and a "Glance and go" affair, but they are so unreliable and incredibly slow.Are live tiles going to be live in mango and will push notifications actually come through on time and not 30mins later?

Just got the update now...The FB app itself is AWESOME! Using it however, sucks!I use browser and integration in WP more than I use the FB app because it's just to slow.They need to make the app faster!

Live tile works for me. A friend sent me a message from facebook and bam red dot in the corner with a '1'.EDIT: I pinned the app to the home screen before i enabled the live tile. Not sure if that made a difference

How fix the push issues...-log out from Facebook then exit the app-turn the phone off and take the battery out-turn the phone on after 3 **** - 1min-come in back into Facebook app and re-login-turn the phone off and take the battery out-turn the phone on after 3 **** - 1minShould work now!

I did that, still not working. Reinstalled the app, still not working. I watched it work on Youtube videos, but their live tile looks different. On mine, the 'f' in on the far right side of the tile, where the counter should be. Or is this just the default tile and it changes when you have a notification? Omnia7,UK

its still the same tile you just get a small red circle with the number of notifications in it on the upper right corner. May take a hour or so for it to completely work but that method worked for me and I have a Samsung Focus which i believe is the same as Omnia

Wow cant believe so many people are having so much trouble. notifications work flawlessly for me.Since I have mango and the 'ME' hub updates with notifications on the tile, I'd like to receive ONLY toast for the fb app and no tile. I end up having to go into the fb app just to get rid ofthe tile :)
