The list of 40 games include titles from Microsoft Studios, Rovio, Miniclip, Gameloft, Babaroga, and Halfbrick Studios. There's no word on pricing and you'll be able to find these titles at the Windows Store via the Games app that comes with Windows 8.

The list includes:

  • Adera: Episode 2
  • Adera: Episode 3
  • Angry Birds

Modulok says:

windows 8 not Windows Phone 8

Lx23 says:

All my favourites are in that list :)

Curtieson says:

By Glue Mobile you mean Glu Mobile. "Damn you autocorrect" - Jorge Ponder

CJ Thunder says:

Metro Apps on W8, do they have a backup solution? I never noticed any such option in the cp.

PG2G says:

PC Settings -> Sync your Settings -> App Settings (certain app settings and purchases made within an app)

iSeeiSheep says:

You can easily perform automated reinstall of every app purchased.

Other options - local backup, etc..

Where is Tentacles??

And, this means that Cut Te Rope will be launched for Windows Phone too?? Only for WP8 or there is a hope for us, WP7.5 users??

Paul Acevedo says:

It's far more likely to be WP8, despite the relative simplicity of the game design.

Racxie says:

Are all of the games in this list bound to have achievements? And will the ones that already exist on WP7 have separate lists? e.g. Wordament

Paul Acevedo says:

Yes, these are all Xbox Live games and they will have their own unique Achievement lists.

Terrin says:

will all of these games work on a windows 8 tablet as well as pc?

I am much more of a on the go gamer for this kind of game and at home playing xbox

Paul Acevedo says:

Yes they will. It will be interesting to see whether or not games like BlazBlue will require a controller or other external input device, though.

Terrin says:

wouldn't mind plugging in a controller so my last question now is these games will be different then the windows phone 8 game list correct?

Paul Acevedo says:

Completely different list. Some of these games may come to WP8 though.

Terrin says:

probable different achievo lists again though as I can't see blazeblue coming to wp8

@George Pounder
"BalzBlue: Calamity Trigger" is one game, not two seperate games. (also a very fun and beautiful one)

Nakazul says:

Nice, The Harvest HD sound lovly.

jyerby says:

Please stop using the word "Xbox" for everything. =[

Terrin says:

thats microsofts words for them. so it makes sense they use them here its when games have achievements, leaderboards and now multiplayer and considered by microsoft as grade "a" that they get that title

EAA575 says:

Whoa, BlazBlue?? Nice! But it's the first installment :/

MastrMeatWad says:

wow, some of those are day one buys for me if the quality is anything like other installments. Blazblue, ilomilo, toy soldiers, gunstringer!, pinball fx2, istunt. Wowzers. Great list. I wonder if we will see releases more than 1 or 2 each week after?

Tahiti Bob says:

I hope we can eventually pay once for a game/app and have it on both Windows 8 and WP8 like on iOS.

MastrMeatWad says:

Probably not, but not every game works that way for ios either at least my experience with iPad and iPhone. A few of my IPAd titles must be repurchased for the phone and ipod. it probably is up to the developer/publisher.

Would be nice, especially with titles on xbla, w8, wp8 and have one flat price.

hwangeruk says:

Xbox Live in the game section of Windows 8 came online for me, and the UK today.
Very nice being able to dress your avatar and have your Xbox friends just a tap away.
Way-to-go Microsoft, finally, giving us what we wanted.

kullkid92x says:

So Daniel quick question, is it safe to say that w.e titles are here and arent currently on wp market place, after being released for windows 8, they will be released for wp soon after?

Paul Acevedo says:

If you're asking whether W8 games will come to WP8, some will but many won't. We'll have to wait and see what WP8 games are announced.

borc says:

What I want to know Paul, is how are these games comptaible on both the tablets and the computers? Games like Cut The Rope or Fruit Ninja require multi touch, so on a tablet sure I see it working. How would that work on a PC though??
