Flight Control braves inclement weather to become the Xbox Live Deal of the Week

Flight Control

For a while there it looked like we might not get a Deal of the Week this time around. Thankfully, the clouds finally cleared away and Flight Control emerged from the storm of Marketplace delays. It’s now on sale for $1.99, down from the regular price of $2.99.

Flight Control is the progenitor of the line-drawing genre of casual games. Created in 2009 by Australia-based Firemint (now owned by EA), it became an instant sales phenomenon. The Windows Phone version lags behind the iOS and other versions in terms of features (no HD makeover and only six maps here), but remains a fun and addicting title.

Achievement hunters, prepare for lots of grinding to reach 10,000 planes landed. I’m about 7,000 short on that one… Then again, Harbor Master, another developer’s nautical take on the same concept, has even more grueling Achievements.

Flight Control is on sale for $1.99 for one week only. Pick it up here on the Marketplace.

I will get this.

I don't recommend this game. It becomes extremly boring after you've landed a few planes. The gameplay is limited and hasn't received much if any updates at all since release.

This game was offered free, full version without ads, this summer for Symbian (it's also $1.99 at Nokia store).  I downloaded it and never played it because the accelerometer is not 'great' on my N8.  Still, I need to play this game to see what it is about.

SocalBrian says:

Pretty sure this game doesn't use the accelerometor.

Then all should be well :)

Wow that was tough to read.  One period, zero commas.  Impressive!

Paul Acevedo says:

Umm... Well, you can just click on the News category and you'll rarely see game-related items.

Grinding for achievements sucks.  I'm an achievement hunter, but I never do the ones that involve too much grinding.  The way I see it, in the 6 hours it takes to grind for an achievement, I could get SEVERAL more on a different game and have a lot more fun doing it.

Developers that put ridiculously high numbers in games for achievements need to wise up.  It still happens in current releases all the time.

nrask7 says:

I second that.

NaterBater says:

I didn't think the that achievement took to long to grind. Although I did get good at the game and got like 1500 a game. Its very fun and worth $2.
