Fly reportedly joining the Windows Phone 8.1 ranks in Russia with new baby blue smartphone

Fly (www.fly-phone.com) is a smartphone company based out of London, who makes a range of phones, smartphones and tablets for various markets including Russia, Ukraine, India, Southern Europe and the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States of the former Soviet Union). Those devices are almost always Android based, but with the recent loosening of restrictions around the Windows Phone hardware requirements and reference design, more manufacturers are supporting Windows Phone. Back in March, Microsoft added nine new hardware partners to its roster, and since that time the number has grown.

On the site WP7Forum.ru, a single photo of a new Windows Phone 8.1 device has leaked, reportedly from Fly and revealing a baby blue design reminiscent of the iPhone 5c, at least from the back. The phone will evidently sport different colored backs, succinct with the bright and happy look of the Windows Phone OS.

If you're unfamiliar with Fly, you're not alone. From their website, they explain their motivation:

"Fly makes its products at some most reliable factories in China making sure to adapt its phones and smartphones to the preferences of Russian consumers. Company's designers choose the best materials and color combinations; product engineers work on the software package and customization, while the quality control department examines the quality throughout the entire manufacturing process to minimize product malfunctions. Finally, a network of authorized service outlets and customer care call-center is responsible for customer support."

"We are not trying to change life, what we really want is to bring a better quality to the table. We want to inspire you and give you freedom of communication, working, finding new friends and sharing the most precious moments with your loved ones. We produce top-quality mobile devices which make life a lot easier!"

Not too much is known about this new offering from Fly, although it is said to compete with the Nokia Lumia 630, making this a budget device. Considering Fly's typical offerings, this makes a lot of sense. The phone will reportedly be carrier unlocked, and it will have a 5 MP main camera and flash, edging out the Lumia 630 at least in that regard.

Grrr. I want to see lumia leaks damn it haha
Still this is good to see potential new phones coming out.

Actually the Fly brand is almost the most popular in Russia. WP does have a nice market share there as well, so this phone might have a success.

Yeah, like russian hotties are popular.

MrDaedra says:

Nope, Samsung really is.

This is such good news, if more manufacturers keep jumping in, more people would be convinced and there would be a higher chance of WP to succeed.

Looks like a 5c :P

Used to see some dumb phones from them in India few years back

You saw dumb phones because you are dumb.

realwarder says:

This is what happened when Android was free... OEMs flooded to use it to compete at the lowest price.

Good for the platform!

JanZee says:

I hope myPhone and Cherry Mobile also make Windows Phones! (local Philippine brands)

Eric Arc says:

Looks nicer if cover is matte thou.

Yugiro says:

I think the problem with "pretending" local OEMs in the Philippines is that their hardware is not up to standard of Windows Phone OS. I mean, I heard that Windows Phone requires only Qualcomm chipsets. i dunno, i'm not sure. But PH brands use mediatek chips.
