Germany: Get your hands on the Lumia 1020 with 64GB today

The land of Oktoberfest, autobahns and Schwarzwälder kirschtorte is getting a phone with 41 million pixels. That’s right, starting today you’ll be able to pick up the 64GB variant of the Nokia Lumia 1020 in Germany. Details after the break.

Lumia 1020 Germany O2 64GB

Nokia Germany sent out a press release announcing the immediate availability of the Lumia 1020 in Germany. Like we reported in July, Telefonica/O2 will be offering an exclusive 64GB version of the Lumia 1020 in their markets. We mentioned earlier today how the device is available in the UK and Brazil, but now Germany is getting in on all the geebees. Read our review for full specs and to see if this device is for you.

The device is going for outright for €679 (about $900). Otherwise customers can go the route of monthly installments, check the O2 link below for the variations there, but they can expect to pay €27.50 per month for 24 months after an initial payment of €19. Looks like only yellow and black is available on the website at the moment.

Thinking of picking one up? Sound off below. Don’t forget to pick up the official app for Spiegel in the Windows Phone Store.

for a reason. maybe behave not like king of the world and see that the rest of the world looks like the better market for .. lets say.. everything... just wondering why not all departments for microsoft realise this but nokia did

The reason why US didn't get 64gb version is because AT&T thinks that there would be no demand for 64gb. And since carriers basically buy these phones from manufacturers and then resell, they are the ones who make the decision whether to sell 64gb version or not.

If they through there would be no demand for a 64gb, why not carry it for special order and run it on promos for more money ?

That would keep their overhead low on the device and still offer it...

You can get a iPhone in 16gb, 32gb and 64gb models, why not a Windows phone device ?

So as my 16GB , but 675 Euros is a lot of money to spend on a cellphone though ... Unless you are willing to wait a couple of months for the price to go down.

euro converted to dollars isn't really the same thing. I wish some of the commentators in car and gadget blogs at some day finally understand it.
It's always the same story when European company announces the prics in euros first as some start to convert those prices and month after the dollar prie is nothing like it.

Sam, your German sucks. ;) Gotta say I'm tempted to buy this device. But I still think it's better to wait for a dedicated WP8.1 or Blue device with 41MP.

Who on German earth uses a first class device with a third class carrier?? Why is Nokia not collaborating with the major carriers Telekom or Vodafone?? Now all attention is once more focused on the new iPhone. I don't get Nokia's strategy...

All companies worldwide that belong to Telefónica will be getting the 64GB. I wouldn't expect it otherwise. So Movistar should be next.

I remember when they did this announcement. "AT&T is going to be our premier carrier!!!!" Yeah right. Thanks God I flashed my 920 and I have no business with them otherwise I would've been waiting for Amber and paying exorbitant data prices.

I've been using for a long time my 1020, and no need for extra space if you carry only pictures and apps I think, my 1020 is more than half empty....

"Oktoberfest, autobahns and Schwarzwälder kirschtorte" Please decide whether you'd like to use german grammar (nouns with capital and thus „Oktoberfest, Autobahnen and Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte“) or english grammar and spell em all lower case. But dont mix it please. My German Gründlichkeit can't take it ;-)

No 64GB version here in Thailand. i just ordered a 32GB and it will cost me about $840 US going to cancel and wait and see if i can get my hands on a 64 GB one. my 920 only has 2.5 GB space left.

THis is what I was hoping for in the U.S. and it may just make me forget out about the trading app I need on WP...I bet the price would be too much  for most to spend on a phone.

Yes so far every no Pre-Paid o2 Lumia in Germany was Unlocked.
My 64 GB 1020 in Yellow should arrive Today.
@My Us Friends here: Se it as a Extra for us Poor German Guys which had to Wait till Yesterday till the 1020 even Arrives here in Germany! You got it nearly 2 Months before us! Also you haven't to Pay ~ 900$...
