Globe Telecom giving away free Lumia 800, pre-orders now available for P1,499

WP Central

Globe Telecom are celebrating the upcoming release of the Lumia 800 Windows Phone by giving one away for free on Twitter. Partnering up with Nokia, the carrier has a shiny new 800 to give away to a lucky Twitter user. So how does one enter this small contest?

Simply tweet @enjoyGlobe with your favourite Nokia handset and when you purchased it, followed by "I want a Nokia Lumia 800 from Globe! #GlobeLumia800". It's that simple, and you'll then have a good chance of pocketing your own 800 for absolutely nothing at all.

Be sure to get your tweets in now to be in with a chance of winning a free Lumia 800 as we're told it's only open for today. You can now also pre-order the Lumia 800 from Globe for just P1,499 /mo, which are expected to be available by April 16th.

Source: @enjoyGlobe; thanks Bon for the heads up!

Globe Telecom giving away free Lumia 800, pre-orders now available for P1,499

(comment on the Twitter contest: I think this is a Philippines-ONLY affair.)

So Globe Telecom REALLY is doing good on sales pitching the Lumia 800 to the Philippine Twitter-verse.

I hope it performs as well as (or even better than) it did on some EU nations. And just as well as (Nokia claims) the 710 on T-Mobile USA.

Surprising is how receptive we are to the Lumia 800 (Windows Phone in general), from a nation that is predominantly of the iPhone, many Androids, BlackBerry Curve's, and Chinese TV phones.

Just saying.

I hope WP becomes successful in the Philippines. Unfortunately, I already own the HTC Radar so no Lumia 800 for me. However, I'll probably be upgrading towards the end of this year to a Nokia Windows Phone 8 handset, if and when that becomes available. Chances for that becoming a reality depends on the success of WP in the country.

i was talking with a twitter friend i have, and he said at one point that "Nokia Lumia 800" was in the top trending topics in Philippines. I think this twitter contest is one reason why it's getting so much attention.

Is this Globe's first Windows Phone? Because I'm currently in the Philippines right now using an unlocked Focus. I was trying to get Globe customer service to help me with APN settings, but they kept giving settings for Android and Windows Mobile. I figured it out myself, eventually.

I hope WP does take off in the Philippines. Everytime someone sees my phone they are pretty amazed at how fast the phone is. But then again how do you compete with Chinese phones with TVs and/or dual sim cards? One other thing I've noticed is people love to share files via Bluetooth. So MS needs to address that soon. That could be a deal breaker over here, I think.

I hope Globe also offer a Nokia Lumia 900. I've been waiting for it since January! Windows Phone is quite unique and people here in the Philippines are still a fan of Nokia. Aggressive marketing and PRICING is the key for Nokia+Microsoft+Globe to brekthrough!

I think Smart Telecom will offer the lumia 900 together with 710. Saw an ad below the display of 710 unit at their Jump store in SM Megamall.
