The site AppDreamr has a great idea in mind for consumers and developers: submit your app ideas, including any screenshots or features you want and let the community vote on it. Then a developer will see which app "dreams" are the most popular and will basically call "dibs" on it bringing the idea to life. From Arian Kulp, the site's creator:
"This isn't just a way to suggest that apps on other platforms are ported, but to be able to pitch a great idea for a new app. The main audience is for the end-users to dream up the app features and screen mockups, and discuss them. The expectation is that devs will see the highest-voted app ideas and will want to produce them (less of an unknown if it will succeed). I envision a community of passionate users dreaming up great concepts, and developers getting popular by implementing them."
It's really a great idea as users get the apps they want and devs can find work and new concepts to start off from. Plus, as pointed out, devs will have more confidence in the app being successful if folks are demanding and voting on the idea.
So devs and thinkers, head over to http://www.appdreamr.com/ to get started.

Seems like a really good idea.
Do you know of any place where idea people can come together wtih devs to work closely on the app and bask in it's glory together?
I'm a UI designer so this is what I have been waiting for.
However...
Not so sure about publicly offering up my app idea on a poorly designed crowd-sourcing website that doesn't even adhere to the Metro design language for starters. Doesn't envoke much confidence in how my idea would be implimented. So far it looks like a swarm of Android users have been submitting posts.
If I am submitting my designs and ideas (for free) then I want to know who the developers are and see examples of their work for reassurance. Like what
http://www.scoutzie.com or http://dribbble.com does.
My thoughts exactly. I wish there was an effective way to get UI designers together with developers to create some quality apps that look beautiful and have that intuitive functionality. That's the "quality" component that seems to be missing in a lot of WP7 apps.
I'm a developer but terrible at design. I wish I had a designer to work with...
My thoughts exactly! I have a few app designs just waiting to be developed! I have tried to take a look at doing so myself but that may be a long road ahead!
Thanks for the http://www.scoutzie.com link! Going to request an invite and also try app dreamer as well.
You guys are on to something here... I rely on Rich from the site for graphic design in our app and owe a lot to him for that. Maybe we should figure out a designer/developer connect scheme for wp7...
That be a great idea! It would improve the look and feel of many apps and allow the developers to focus on coding which would also help improve the apps.
Just to be clear (as the site's creator!), this site doesn't directly connect you to developers. You are just brainstorming app ideas, then a developer can request to adopt it. You can decide to add them to the project or not, but AppDreamr doesn't have any direct connection to the developers. It's crowdsourced design *and* development. As for the non-Metro look, I wasn't going for a direct WP look. At some point I might allow other platforms to submit as well. As a big WP user though, I wanted to start it out this way.
Lemmings!
nice, just recommended an app I really miss from my old Droid, now someone please go make my DreamApp I've called "Fishing Time" :)
I was actually just looking at that, seems like one of the few reasonable requests (lol android emulator). I've been trying to find something I can start on so I might try to pick it up in spare time, which I don't have a lot of. :/
Mumble for Windows Phone!!! I don't have an account there, but Someone should ask for it ;)
Fantastic idea, as a developer I like to code, not to design ;) Good to find metro designers to collaborate with !!
Tell me should include the facility wherein I can SMS back with voice without having to use wifi.
