Just picked up my Lumia 920 in white. Apparently apps like tango and Skype aren't available to download. Anyone know why?

Kasper M says:

Isnt skype baked in,, i think so..

HenRoid says:

From what I can tell no. I don't see Skype in the account settings. But still Skype and tango aren't available for download. I don't understand...

mans550 says:

No skype isn't backed in as such. When skype arrives and you install it onto you windows phone 8 device you will get skype fully integrated into the phone. But it must be downloaded first. There's no eta when it will arrive but in guessing very soon

HenRoid says:

Oh I see I see. Hope its sooner than later.

Lobbie1978 says:

Can't wait for my Lumia 920. It's expected shipping date is the 15th. Sigh... Patience is difficult right now...

tilemaster says:

Buy it at mediamarkt or saturn directly in the store, that shipping date is fake

bonsai666 says:

When will Nokia drive be available for other wp8 phones? Bought a 8x as fed up with waiting for 920 here in the UK & drive isn't available yet.

Otherwise, loving WP8!!!!

jwinch2 says:

The beta version is available now it seems.

Be getting my 8X in the next couple of days, been happy with my HD7 so sticking with HTC.

BK-one says:

So I had pre ordered the 920 from at&t on Wednesday. Paid $449 plus tax. (at&t in the US). Today At 9:30 it still showed pending shipment. My buddy wanted to go pick one up and I went with his this morning. We both had the 900 prior to this.. The rep rang it up and said $299 plus tax.. We thought something was wrong. She said no, that's right. So I got one for the same price and then logged into at&t and canceled my order. Saved $150... Store renewed me for 2 years. I am guessing the pre order did not. Nothing I care about cause I have no issues with at&t..

When is the Samsung ATIV  S coming out and for what US Carriers?

holmesr says:

Well isn't that the 64 million $ question of the day. :)

Sun Wu says:

I stopped by a local AT&T store to check new Nokia phones out and had a chance to play with both Lumias - 920 and 820 last Friday. Both phones look and feel extremely well done pieces.
WiFi config/setup is identical to WP7 and WP7.5. It is still missing static IP setup option and WiFi advanced security protocols are still not supported.
Microsoft (I've been watching dev and support blogs since the time of WP7 release) promised many times to implement static IP and adv. sec. protocols support, but it's broken its promise once again.
I hope they realize that for many people out there (like myself) those options would be the pivoting point where we'd have to decide which way we'd go - to stay with WP or to switch for Android or for Apple b/c in many environments and in many situations people are not allowed or for some reasons cannot use adhoc/open/unsecure WiFi connection and must use static IP combined with adv. sec. protocols. That in turn means that if there's no way to use WiFi on WP8, a phone becomes just a so called feature phone, that is to make phone calls.
Android starting FOUR versions back implemented those WiFi basic config/setup features (I am not familiar with Apple Pnone, but pretty sure that those features are there), some of those features were even available in Windows Mobile 6.5, what happened after 6.5, why Microsoft dropped the ball?
It's very sad since I tried to stay with MS and WP, but I guess that's it.
One more thing. There's still no any sync app (to sync with the Outlook, something similar to the ActiveSync) in the new WP8 except that unsafe cloud sync option. Why would anyone in right mind risk putting some personal (sometimes confidential) information on the cloud drive? Does the data get encrypted? - No. So go ahead and take your chances. The funny thing is that there are plenty of such apps on the Android market, that is to sync Microsoft Outlook with the Android phones. But for Microsoft own Windows Phone?  - No, Microsoft knows better what you need.

Windows 8, the talk of the town. the talk of the technological savvy people as when your into it, it only means youve been evolving as the times goes by. in relation to that, i'm sure that those builders or wise guys behind the development of Windows 8 may have go into also brainwave program using the brainwave entrainment cd
