The 8X Windows Phone by HTC has experienced a price drop at AT&T and is now available for $99 on contract for the 16GB version, while the 8GB variant is listed for just $49 when taken out with a plan. Sounds like a pretty good deal, right? If contracts aren't really your thing, AT&T has also slashed its pricing for the devices if you'd prefer to purchase them outright.

It's already known that both Nokia and Microsoft need to get the word out about Windows Phone. Not only to adults and the teens, but also attracting an even younger audience. We've already seen the power of Kid's Corner in Windows Phone 8 and how it offers useful functionality for parents to create a sandbox for kids to enjoy the smartphone experience safely, but what about those who own their own mobile phone?

It’s no secret that Nokia receives near universal praise for the design of their Lumia line of smartphones. But what about the other OEMs that make Windows Phone devices? Well, Samsung is Samsung, but HTC did do something remarkable with the designs of the 8X and 8S for the launch of Windows Phone 8. They’ve just been awarded the red dot design award for their work.

Gibbage Cases has been a roller coaster, grass roots effort by Windows Phone enthusiast Kevin "Gibbage" Miller. Miller was looking for a simple case to protect his HTC 8X with three principles in mind; protection, design and function.

The end result was a unique case that offered a buffer between the 8X and harsh surfaces. The Gibbage Case may not offer much protection from falls but it should protect the soft outer coating of the 8X from scratches and rubbing thin. We received a Windows Phone 8 theme version (complete with the Windows Phone Central Logo) of the Gibbage Case. We took it out for a test drive over the past few days and found it to be a nice option for those who prefer a minimalistic approach to their cases.

Good news for those on Verizon who have anxiously awaited that ‘Portico’ OS update as not only do you get those new features, but evidently Big Red has given you some many unique fixes too.

The new features and improvements come with the radio/firmware portion of the update, which is an additional layer that brings some carrier-side requested fixes.

HTC unveiled it's latest Android device, the HTC One, today with a lot of the hype centered around the device's camera. HTC billed the camera as being a new experience for smartphones, likely in response to the attention Nokia has received from the innovative Pureview camera on the Lumia 920 Windows Phone.

How do the specs shake out? It may surprise many but the HTC One is fitted with a 4MP camera that has a dedicated next gen image chip and f/2.0 lens. Yes... "just" 4 megapixels.

But wait, there's more!

With sales of the HTC 8X evidently doing fairly well, it would seem obvious that the company would experiment with other colors—after all, California Blue, that fire engine red, Limelight yellow and black are all quite popping. Heck, we’ve even seen a grey/yellow “employee edition” of the 8X previously.

HTC have posted on their official Twitter account a simple photo with the headline “Sometimes you just need to tune it all out. Let us help.” With an accompanying image of a boy “tuning out” the people around him while he listens to what appears to be a red HTC 8X. The two females meanwhile are passing what appears to be a white HTC 8X—a colors scheme heretofore unseen to the public.

Data Sense is a much touted feature of Windows Phone 8, and a very nice one theoretically, which tracks every byte of data by every single app (including the phone OS itself) over both cellular and WiFi. But most Windows Phone 8 devices on the market these days do not have it on board yet. The reason of its absence, as we've heard, has something to do with lack of carrier support. AT&T is said to be adding Data Sense to its devices in the near future, but other Windows Phone carriers are more or less remaining quiet on the subject.
