HTC Hub gets updated and looks a lot better

We have received numerous tips today that the HTC Hub was updated over night. Sure enough, it was and the new version is v2.2.

The update brings a few Mango features into play and gives the Hub an improved appearance. For those not familiar with the HTC Hub, the old version offered you weather information and links to featured Windows Phone apps. The new version still offers the weather and featured apps but also adds news and stock information to the Hub.

The new version spreads everything out on multiple pages while the old version had a cramped, cluttered feel to it. You can add forecast cities to the main page (tap on a city to pull up a detailed forecast), customize your stock information on the next, access customized RSS news feeds on the next and then check out featured Windows Phone apps.

Another very nice feature of the new HTC Hub is Live Tiles for your forecast cities. Just tap and hold on the forecast city listing on the main page (you can also do this from the detailed forecast view) to create a Live Tile on your Start Menu. The Live Tile will display the current temperature and forecast high/low along with a weather icon for the current conditions.

All in all, the update vastly improves the HTC Hub. It's cleaner looking and better laid out. The Hub enjoys Mango's fast resume feature and the Live Tiles are really nice. If you're running Windows Phone 7.5 on an HTC device, you can find the HTC Hub here at the Windows Phone Web Marketplace or check your HTC Apps listing in the Windows Phone Marketplace app.

Thanks goes out to everyone who tipped us on this!

This is why I do not want to go to Nokia, Samsung and LG because HTC brings alot of extra features and actually keep up to date with them all as well. I understand Nokia has not had a try at it yet but i doubt they will beat HTC. I hope HTC would just make their phones look a little better but at the end of the day what does it matter we all put a skin or something on our phones anyways to protect it so you can not really see the phones shell anyways. I love the new HUB and the weather demo is alot better now.

keithvsmith says:

I prefer the old Hub's look. It had a 4 day outlook, this only has 1 day...

EJNelly says:

4day is still available, but it takes some work to get to. You have to tap the clock, which brings you to a more detailed weather screen. Then you tap the 24h button on the bottom, this will bring you to a graph of how the temperature should change by hour. Now at the bottom is a 4D, tap that and you have a 4day forecast. I do wish the 4day forecast was on the first page though. I don't care what the temperature is around the globe. Maybe in version 2.3.

You can choose between a 24 hour,4 days or hourly!! So this is better! Play with it and set it the way you want it.

You prefer an ugly phone like HTC to a Samsung Omnia7 with S-AMOLED or the upcoming new Nokias just due to the fact that your ugly HTC (it´not only bad camera, design and built quality, its also the ugly LCD-Panel) got the most attractive Manufacturer Apps?? Ok, so i buy no Mercedes Benz but rather a Hyundai, park it in the darkest corner of my garage so that nobody can see its ugliness....but hey, no problem, because they make the best-looking dashboard lights ;)

no need to be soo butthurt, it was his preference and its mine too. HTC so far has more to offer especially now with beats audio, and their phones are more rugged and can take a beating, my arrive fell off my bed quite a few times face down with not even the least bit sign of damage. also Samsung has customer satisfaction below the industry standard, HTC also sells more wp7 and android phones than Samsung so that's saying alot. obviously people don't care whether the phone is ugly or not. so please understand how ludicrous ur point is.

Um the new generation of HTC phones have a way better camera than they do now first of all, HTC has the best hardware aka specs and not to mention yes because of the apps. I use the phone because of apps not because it looks nice on the outside which I will mention again you cant see because of the skins or cases. Also the screen of the HTC Titan and Radar compared to the galaxy in reviews say the screen for HTC is noticeably better than the galaxy which sports a Super AMOLED screen. I know alot about cars, if you have the new Hyundai sonata compared to the Mercedes E Class or a Hyundai Equus compared to a Mercedes S Class both with a car cover over them and had to pick them just because of features on the inside I guarantee a lot more people will pick the Hyundai then you think buddy. Catch my drift?

Dumb springs to mind, HTC bad Build Quality ? right which one? Htc has much better build quality than Samsung look at the SGS2 it might be a popular android phone with good specs but it feels like a plastic toy.S-Amoled vs S-LCD is personal preference s-amoled might look brighter etc but the pentile pixels are a no go for me the screen looks fuzzy and not sharp so i much prefer slcd.

terminal3000 says:

Ok,first "HD7user86" aka htc fanboy 1:a HTC lcd screen was reviewed better than a SUPER AMOLED Screen...maybe in your wet fanboy dreams or where? XDI just say NEVER EVER. S-AMOLED is WAY superior to any poor lcd technology and anybody with technical knowhow on this planet knows that. And you say you know a lot about cars? aha? Dude, i am from the motherland of cars and engineering and grew up with mercedes benz as my father was the typical german mercedes benz driving business man and i own myself an e55amg benz and former audi (A8/RS4) since 1992...savvy? maybe you just cant afford a benz, whats of course sad for you:) so stay with hyundai and htc while i stay with my amg baby and me omnia7 ;)__________________now "theman60099" aka htc fanboy 2:"no need to be soo butthurt, it was his preference and its mine too."Hm, what can i say? I´m sorry for you. Bad phone."HTC so far has more to offer especially now with beats audio, and their phones are more rugged and can take a beating, my arrive fell off my bed quite a few times face down with not even the least bit sign of damage." Oh, really? Beats audio is just a ripoff from sony ericcson´s walkman style, nothing else. That gimmicks can´t compete with samsungs built quality and display technology and component quality at all, so please, come on."also Samsung has customer satisfaction below the industry standard, HTC also sells more wp7"Oh Dude...Volkswagen also sold more beetles than Rolls Royce oder Mercedes Benz oder Ferrari...but who´s still better, hm? And HTC customers are underclass customers whereas samsung customers are way more critical and demanding. please think before you post next time because that was really funny;)

theman60099 says:

ripoff from a Sony Ericsson Walkman? really? I dont so, u must be on some serious crack if ur going to be saying that. I'm not even going to bother with the rest of ur post because it's the same crack nonsense. what made u think u can post nonsense on something that has nothing at all to do with Samsung. ur just mad because the HTC apps are better than the Samsung ones, now GTFO dude.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oajRRrplY3Y Scan to 2min 44sec and then see what you have to say. Funny you think Germany is the motherland of cars? hahahaha NEXT! Japan, USA, Germany, Italy, Canada all make prestigious cars, i would never consider one to be the motherland of cars. Funny you buy cars because of prestige not because of what they can do because i can name ALOT of cars that are much better under the hood and interior wise than an Audi A8 and E55. Also i can afford a benz but why spend money on something that looses value too fast? I am a smart shopper not just another consumer aka sheep. Also if you are so rich buddy upgrade to an E63 because your a little behind. I like whats under the hood not whats outside of it. If i was to get a benz it would be an SLR, SLS or CL65 or 63 any other benz is a waste of money.

Are you really going to do the immature OEM fanboy flame war thing? Unless any of you actually have stock in either HTC or Samsung, let it go.

he's the one who started it spreading FUD on something that had absolutely nothing to do with him. what an idiot.

HD7user86 says:

Yeah this guy is tripping, i bet he is an Ed Hardy, Jersey Shore type of guy. hahahahah WOWSERS! Thanks theman60099 i just stated facts when this guy tried to bash my input with no facts nor substance to his argument. Oh well i said all i have to say if he replies again i'm done. I hope he enjoys his Samsung while i enjoy my HTC. At the end of the day we both have a Winmo phone.

fuguchimo says:

They should've kept the 1x2 live tile size.

starblade876 says:

They still have that tile size available if you pin the HTC Hub, instead of an individual city.
