Huawei Ascend W2 Windows Phone gets certified for China Mobile

Ascend W2

The Huawei Ascend W2 is heading to China and consumers at one step closer to getting their hands on the Windows Phone. The device has passed through checks in the country and will now be sold on China Mobile, tapping into a vast number of subscribers.

The budget Windows Phone, as revealed by specifications will reportedly be positioned as a low-end device on the Chinese network. Here's a quick reminder of what we're looking at here:

  • 4.3-inch WVGA screen (800x480)
  • Dual-core 1.4 Ghz processor
  • 512MB of RAM
  • 8GB of internal storage
  • 134 x 66.7 x 9.9 mm dimensions

Ascend W2

It'll be interesting to see how this new Windows Phone will be received by consumers, especially with fierce competition coming from Nokia. That said, it's great to see multiple OEMs help push Microsoft's platform forward.

So, you're not for choice, and variety?

neither am I
It's Nokia all the way!

butt for *you* it may be different...
I recommend a joyful pink iPhone to make you merry (or marry)

Saw this Ascend W2 in Walmart for prepay. Right where it belongs.

ni_ck85 says:

You sure it wasn't the W1 you saw?

Anyone seen Nokia's new JobLens app, it takes LocalLens to another lever. Wonder where "Lens" can be used next.

Eas195 says:

I'll go for the next lever.

rodneyej says:

Great news because there's like 8 billion people over there.. LOL❕❗❕

RepoUK says:

The W1 is a decent handset.  Until you realise it only has 4Gb internal storage that is.
Whoever came up with the idea should be beaten to death with an iPhone.

rodneyej says:

Lol! Beaten to death with a iPhone.. A 920 would hurt them faster because it wouldn't give so fast... Anyways, This is about the W2 which has 8gb, and expandable storage up to 64gb. I think..
