ING launches banking apps for Windows 8 and Windows Phone

ING has released apps for Microsoft's platforms. Both Windows 8 and Windows Phone now sport an app that enables customers of the bank to log in and manage their account(s). Much like all other mobile banking applications, you can expect to see the usual list of features, including balance checking, transaction viewing and the transfer of money.

All that's required to get started is an ING current account (obviously) and an Internet banking account. When launching the ING app for the first time, you'll need to register by filling in some personal details and follow steps on-screen. Everything's secure and meets security standards. Here's the full list of features:

  • Transfer money easily using your Windows Phone
  • Use your current and savings accounts
  • Check your balance right away
  • View transactions
  • Available in Dutch and English
  • Log on quickly and securely with your selected mobile PIN
  • Easy to use

You can download ING Bankieren from the Windows and Windows Phone Stores (both Windows Phone 7 and 8 supported - in English and Dutch). Thanks, pr0phecy, for the heads up!

Awesome, wierd because ING is now Captial One 360, but awesome.

MadOx75 says:

Incorrect.  ING Direct, which was the direct banking division of ING, is now Capital One 360.  This app will not work if you have an ING Direct/CapOne360 account.

jbigelow says:

Crap! I was afraid of that, I've been waiting for the CapitalOne 360 banking app, it was the only regular usage app I had to give up when moving off Android, definitely would like it back.

Shad0wguy says:

Capital One commented on a post of mine on facebook about a WP8 app, and said there is nothing in the works but they are looking into it.  For now I just made a tile that takes me to the mobile site.  Between capital one and mint, they are the only apps I really am missing from android.

coip says:

I wrote them as well but was disappointed with their response: they basically said "just use the mobile web version of the site." Pff. How about I switch my account over to Chase instead, who actually has a WP8 app (and a good one at that).
I have had ING Direct for years and years and was really disappointed when it became Capital One 360. The fact that ING now  has a WP8 app and Capital One does not makes it even worse.

Huge bummer!

EchoRedux says:

Banking apps that don't allow me to take a picture of a check and deposit it seem useless IMHO. Mobile sites > Apps if you just want to check and transfer balances.

myrandex says:

Text banking > Mobile Web & Apps if no check deposit is needed. I can open a text and type bal and hit send, or tra ... And hit send without messing with passwords or using data.

Common M&T . . .

DenniSundaY says:

Yes, finally! Works great. Not so fashionable as the iOS version but it works and that's the main point. But I would like if they did the same as Facebook on windows phone: that swipe-to-right menu is really useful

Navy Federal Credit Union...? Hello...?

Bigsro says:

Barclays Bank UK please ;-)

Chris_Kez says:

Citibank? I've tweeted, I've called and I've even asked at my local branch- nothing.

poddie says:

Do what I did... leave and go to Chase.  Much better online site, much better technology, awesome WP app.

De Joe says:

Can you deposit checks now?

coip says:

You can deposit checks now on the Chase app. I'm actually thinking of switching over too. I have a Citi and U.S. Bank and Capital One accounts and none of them have WP apps. I wrote them all and their responses all sucked. So, unless they pull a rabbit out of their hats in the next month, I'm going over to Chase and writing them a letter telling them the sole reason was their WP app

bigstevenc says:

Nationwide for WP please!

ho0lee0h says:

Where's the capitalone360 app? :(

coldside says:

Hello HSBC UK? HSBC is so behind with the times, it's ridiculous.

Robborboy says:

Still waiting on PNC...

Ron_2155 says:

ANZ & Westpac please

kimlo91 says:

And Suncorp and Commonwealth :)

Woembah says:

All the major banks in The Netherlands have published a wp app now. It looks like it's not as good in other countries, I hope they will catch up!

By the way, this ING app is working very well.

THE_Lawnboy says:

Yes! Come on CapitalOne and USAA. You're getting left behind.
