Location Finder for Windows Phone 8 updated, Skydrive support in tow

Location Finder

Location Finder is a location finding/sharing app for your Windows Phone 8 device. The app goes beyond just telling you where you're at but also provides geocoding, reverse geocoding, live tile support and the ability to generate driving/walking directions to saved locations.

Location Finder was recently updated to version 2.4 and adds the ability to backup your saved locations to Skydrive and generate voice commands for saved locations.

The update also adds the ability to geocode your People Hub contacts, edit saved locations, and the customary performance tweaks/minor bug fixes.

The voice commands include "show", "drive to" and "walk to" commands for locations that are saved. Location Finder was a nice app before the version 2.4 update and with Skydrive support for backing up/restoring your locations and voice commands to access them, the app has gotten better.

There is a free trial version available for Location Finder with the full version running $.99. You can find it all here in the Windows Phone Store.

I love that the store page for this app says Mango update but doesn't install for WP7. They need to update their info.

Developer of the app here. @CJThunder The WP7 version of the app had to be pulled from the marketplace due to technical reasons. Sorry. WP7 version of the app is still at v1.5 and should be back in the store in a week or so. Location Finder v2.4 is strictly for WP8.
@GeorgePonder Thanks for the article.

Makes sense, just some minor house keeping.

Hi, can you give some use cases for the app not achievable by Here Suite? I din't totally understand the unique proposition from the description

Thanks :)

GJ Kuz says:

@ah06 Two advanced features I use often are Voice Commands and Bing Place Card integration. You could use voice commands with any saved location. For eg. using Voice Command you could say "Location Finder Drive To Madison Square Garden". Here Madison Square Garden is a location saved in Location Finder. The voice command will launch a GPS app on your phone and set the destination to "Madison Square Garden". Please refer "Voice Commands" section under Speech and "Using with Bing Place Card" under General in the Quick Reference Guide for more info. If you still have any questions, please feel free to contact me using the options provided in the app.
